Product Description

War raged for over a hundred years until strong, powerful Lords emerged from the fighting to bring a fragile peace to the land. This peace is threatened when one of the Lords, Ataraxis, ruler of the city of Nexus, is taken ill by a deadly curse. A call is sent out, promising rewards beyond measure for anyone who finds a cure. Four mercenaries, each with their own strengths, weaknesses and motivations answer the call. One uses forbidden spells to rain death on her foes, one has guns and bombs to blast his way through, another has a mighty sword capable of slicing through entire packs of enemies, and one other gains strength from savagely tearing through anything that stands in his way with brutal, bladed fists.

I got this game on the Friday it was released and over the weekend I'd 100%-ed it with one of the classes. That's when the big flaw with the game kicks in. There is no replay value whatsoever. Yes, you can replay the game by creating another save file with one of the other characters but if you've invested time creating a specific character, building their skills and stats you can't do anything with them after you've finished the game except go online and basically be muscle for hire to help out the lower-levelled players.

In short, here's a list of things that are wrong with the game: low level cap (30), no boss respawns (without creating a new character or going online to find someone who hasn't completed the game yet), no quest replay (without creating a new character or going online to find someone who hasn't completed the game yet), no real class-specific storyline, no new game+/story repeat (without creating a new character), no increased difficulty or XP for anything after you've completed the game so one hit kills and 1 XP from most enemies all round and if you do all the side quests as they become available you level up too much and the storyline then becomes way too easy.

The worst of it is, this IS a good game and one that is needed on the 3DS with the online play and the voice chat. It's just a shame that the developers have completely missed the point on what makes this genre so special.

I looked at the preview videos for this game and it looked amazing so I bought it, when you first play it Heroes Of Ruin seems incredible and the co-op online play was a real selling point for me. The issues are you get too much loot making it pointless very quickly as there is just too much stuff and also the game is very very repetitive, if you go down a hallway and realise you went the wrong way the enemies you just battered a minute ago return and so you end up fighting the same battles a lot which is a shame as there is a lot to like about this game. The graphics are really really good and it plays really nicely but compared with other games I own I soonlost interest as it was so repetitive in the end, if they brought a sequel out and fixed the issues this would be a world beater.

Story: Intriguing, with twists and depth. Drives the game forwards.

Gameplay: Flawless, the most enjoyable gameplay I've experienced in a very LONG time!

Graphics: Pretty, nice places to explore and varied too. The cutscenes are in a hand drawn style and I really like them, they work very well for this sort of adventuring game.

Music: Nice music, nothing stands out, but it certainly sets the scene and can send a chill down your spine.

Multiplayer: I've never been a big fan of multiplayer. This game has made a convert out of me! The single player is SO FUN, then you go on multiplayer and the experience grows in depth tenfold, it works very impressively considering this is a handheld!!!

Conclusion: If you have a 3ds this is the best game you will get on it at the moment (apart from maybe Ocarina of Time of course) BUY THIS GAME. IT IS WORTH IT.

Not many hack 'n slash games come out on portable systems. Especially not on Nintendo 3DS. Gameplay is surprisingly fun, especially if you can play with a friend. Levels aren't very open like you would expect in a console or PC H&S game, but it does its job well enough. Fun abilities for all classes and enjoyable boss battles.

I bought this for my son who loved the game. Delivery was very quick and the price reasonable. But like most parents we would love to see the prices of these games coming down. Overall 5 stars for delivery and it's condition on delivery. It was protected well.

So the core mechanics are great, you run around, shoot stuff, grab loot, level up, gear up.
Except you don't really need to bother leveling up or gearing up, because the game is stupidly easy, I died 3 times. This needs a hard mode NG+, then it might actually be worthwhile as a game.
And since it is so easy, there is no point in playing online either, except to hear people bitch when you steal all the loot :)

Bought as a christmas present so has not been used for long. A good first impression, the first mission was a bit complicated but got easier as it progressed
