I'm all for supporting the soldiers, and for this charity. And I don't mind the X Factor, although I'm not a huge fan. But, why, oh why, have they used THIS song for "Help for Heroes"?
The song itself has nothing to do with the soldiers, or the conflict in Afganistan, or ANYTHING like that - it's about the Berlin Wall, the division of Germany, and two lovers meeting at the Wall. Why, why, WHY? It doesn't make any sense used this way!
The release of this song just seems to be jumping on the charity bandwagon. "Hey, look at us, aren't we caring? We don't care what the song's actually about, we'll just rape it of it's meaning and slap a charity sticker on it. More publicity for us!" I wouldn't mind it so much otherwise - but it seems as though Cowell just chose this song because the title happened to be "Heroes", and was too lazy to actually find a song that matched the charity he's apparantly supporting.
Hey, Simon. Next time you want to do a charity single, at least pick a song that has something to do with the subject in question. Not doing so just makes you look lazy and ignorant.
