I eagerly collect any local military history works, and these series of books excellently cover both sides of the topic.
As a Sussexman through and through, I must admit to regarding Kent as not being God's own County - obviously that accolade belongs to the County immediately to the West of Kent - but it's still great to read about the goings-on at the myriad of now-forgotten small fighter stations around the South East, along with the more famous ones such as Biggin Hill.
Detailing major operational periods - Battle of Britain, D-Day, etc - the book manages to encompass both stations, squadrons, individuals, and major anecdotal events. All this is interspersed with 1 page plates detailing the aircraft (of both sides) in operation at the time.
Recommended for both local and military history buffs.
