At first glance at the track listing of this 2CD set,you might think this is a fairly standard compilation of Pat Boone hits and gospel recordings with a few less common titles included BUT the compilers of this set have thrown their net a bit wider than usual. You do indeed get the "Dot" hits("Friendly Persuasion","I'll Be Home" etc.)as well as several "Dot" album tracks(several from "Pat Boone Sings Irving Berlin" as well as a couple from the "Howdy" and "Pat" albums)but then it starts to get interesting.Several of the gospel recordings are taken from the albums he made for his own "Lamb & Lion" label in the '70,s,which have largely been overlooked for C.D. release. There are also several tracks taken from the tribute album Pat made to honour his father-in-law "Red Foley". Some of the hits are the re-recordings Pat made for K-Tel but "A Wonderful Time Up There" is a very good live recording in a medley with "Amen".This compilation comes fairly up-to-date with a couple of tracks taken from two of Pats more recent C.D.s,"Yes"(mis-titled "Yes Indeed" here!)is taken from his "Ready To Rock" album and "Shotgun" comes from the "We Are Family" C.D.
So,all in all, this set may not satisfy the purists who only want the original "Dot" recordings but,for those wishing to experience a kind of overview of Pat Boones long career you could do worse than start here

Virtually an album of remakes many of which are very close to the Dot originals and may be from either K Tel,MGM or Tetragrammaton plus a few from sundry other labels such as Lamb & Lion.
The song named as Yes Indeed is NOT the same one he made for Dot though the title comes in right at the end. Most likely the title is simply Yes.
As I love cover versions this applies equally to remakes when the artists cover themselves
Towards the end of the 60s Boone made an album for Dot titles Ain't That A Shame which ciously used the 50s original rather than a remake but here it really IS a remake
