I think that this is good for kids younger than me and it also was good... well it was ok for me because I am older. Also for children who just started to read and tells you about army people.

Was disappointed with the content and very short story I only hope the purchase price reflects what is being raised for a worthy cause if anything.

Great deployment book 1 Aug. 2012
By Sarah - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Hardcover Verified Purchase
This is our 3rd deployment but our kids are older now at 5 and 3 so they actually realized what was happening this time. To start the dedication in this book is to an elementary school in Graf. Germany which happens to be about 2 hours from us, and the author was a teacher at one time there which I thought was pretty cool. The first time we read it I cried my silent tears and missed my hubby. The next few times the kids started asking what does camouflage mean? What is a platoon? Now when I read 'My dad doesnt wear an invisible suit, he wears camouflage' my 3 year old says 'My daddy does that!' and my 5 year old says 'Camoufladge is colors.' It's a great bedtime story.

Perfect for Military Brat Birthdays 25 Mar. 2014
By Kay H. - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Hardcover Verified Purchase
As a career NCO family with kids, we go to a lot of kids parties. I give this book almost every time to kids 1-5 years old - it's perfect to add to another gift, most people haven't heard of it, and it addresses hard parts of the lifestyle in an approachable manner. Our baby loves it too - it's nice to psychologically prepare kids for the separations this line of work entails. As NCOs, its nice to contribute to family well-being in a non-pushy way. The race of the main characters isn't starkly white like many kid's books, which is great for identifying with minorities (which we are). Overall, a great buy at a great price.

A Military Family MUST 1 Mar. 2011
By Krieks - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Hardcover
My three year old received this book for Christmas and it INSTANTLY became one of his favorites! It's a fun, easy to read book that points out how a military dad is just like a super hero. For our family, it helped to validate for my son why his Daddy wears a certain uniform to work everyday and why he has to be "at work" for long periods of time, among other things. While it is somewhat specific to the Army, I believe it would be an appropriate book for ANY military family, regardless of branch. If you've got a loved one who is deployed or know someone who does, it makes a GREAT gift for their family!!
Military Heroes 23 Nov. 2012
By Angie - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Hardcover Verified Purchase
I have participated in contributing to the Military Family Christmas parties for the past several years at Walter Reid and now at the new hospital. I happened to find a children's book at a local vendor called "My Dad is in the Navy", and thought it would be great to be able to find more of these books to donate along with some of the other things for "Santa" to give out.

Once again, Amazon not only had them, but I they will arrive in time for them to get to VA in time for the party.

All parents love to see their children happy, and hopefully these books will make the day a little more special.

Maybe others will do the same.

What a great book! 18 Nov. 2010
By JMama - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Hardcover
My husband is currently deployed with the Navy for the 3rd time and I wanted a book to be able to read to our 4 year old. This book is absolutely adorable! One page reads..."He doesn't have X-ray vision---he has night vision." It compares the military parent to a super hero in ways that children can completely relate to. All of my children truly enjoyed this book. The oldest is 9 years old. I would readily recommend this book to any military family preparing for or dealing with a separation.
