4.0 out of 5 stars Hero Builders Guide - a good choice for new players, 12 Oct 2002
By A Customer
There have been several bad reviews of this book, but personally, I do not think they do this product justice. The Hero Builder's Guide is an excellent book if you are quite new to DnD - it helps you get to grips with the different races and classes, helping you to make your character unique. It comes with several ideas on how to make your character your own, an alignment test (particuliarly useful for those who face alignment restrictions, like Paladins and Barabarians), even a wide range of tables to help create your won personal history (worth buying just for this!!!). Although experienced players may not get much of a boon from this book, I strongly reccommend it for players (and DMs too) who want to make their characters a little special.

1.0 out of 5 stars Worst 3rd edition D&D product so far., 25 Jun 2001
By A Customer
This is a very poor book for anyone who has any role playing experience. It has lots and lots of waffle about how to play various types of character but very little hard information. Most of the other 3rd edition books have been good but this is just poor.

1.0 out of 5 stars Covers without content, 5 Sep 2003
This book has a pretty good name, I grant them that. The problem is with the contents: this book doesn't offer anything to anyone who has been playing DD before. I wouldn't even advice beginners to buy it as it certainly is not worth the money. Someone summed this book up nicely as "The worst DD publication so far." I do not understand how this book can have a 3 star rating: 3 stars means after all that this would be a book of average quality and this is not that. I have been playing RPGs 15 years and during that time I have played with many different rulesets. Among all those RPG books I have read this one has perhaps the least content.
