This is not straightforward concert footage, instead it is recorded in a lovely rural studio setting, with a few new songs, and revisiting some of her best known tracks like Daisy and I'm Gonna Do It All.There is also an unexpected cover of the Blue Nile's From Rags to Riches nicely done.Between the performances there are brief documentary clips about some of the songs and her role as a singer and songwriter. She is very modest and self effacing, this DVD provides an excellent introduction and overview to a classy singer and strong songwriter. It feels like you have been invited into her living room on a bright summery day to listen to a few songs and have a cosy chat,go for a walk outside , so refreshingly different from the normal concert performance, much more intimate, insightful and rewarding. The filming is nicely done, and she is accompanied by her brother Steven, , Inge Thomson on accordion, flute, percussion and vocals, and on a few selected tracks Kim Edgar on piano, and Signy Jakobsdottir on glockenspiel, marimba & percussion. This is a stop gap before she produces her next album in autumn 2012, but stands up well as a record of what she has achieved to date, and where she is coming from in terms of her philosophy on life and music. Accessible, rewarding informative, relaxed and tasteful, well worth investing in.
