Fantastic!! 12 Nov 2004
By A Customer
Format:Hardcover
My son brought this home as his school reading book and the whole family fell in love with it. I immediately put in an order though Amazon, and he is so excited to have his very own copy. A Superb read, funny and sensitive with plenty of humour, and lovely drawings too. Am looking forward to finding some more Simpon Puttock books to enjoy.

A great read! 21 Jun 2009
Format:Paperback
My three- and five-year old both love this book. The dialogue is brilliant and offers plenty of opportunity for those 'special voices'. It's also a great story about friendship and self-esteem, and the illustrations are quite funky. Can only recommend!

A very entertaining and colorful story. 6 May 2003
By Dawn - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
My 6 year old son was captivated by this story of a shy chameleon named Smedley. The story goes that Smedley is so shy he just blends into every background. He isn't noticed in school, doesn't participate much because he is so shy. That is until the new girl shows up. Sally Skinky who is the opposite of Smedley immediately takes to him and helps him to realize his potential for standing out. She works with him and talks to him which builds his confidence. He becomes so confident that he enters himself in an art show. All the other kids have a picture to show but Smedley uses himself, changing into many different patterns and colors. He wins the art show and now has confidence in himself. He learns that being different is not such a bad thing after all. Very colorful and adorable. If you have a shy child this shows them that they don't need to blend in, that being a little different has its own rewards.
Great Story! 17 Aug 2008

This sweet story about a shy but talented chameleon is a favorite at our house. Smedley, the shy chameleon, is surprised when his new friend tells him how talented he is. Her gentle persuasion and sincere friendliness bring out Smedley's inner artist and his confidence. The story is well written and is easy to read aloud. The illustrations are colorful and interesting. This book would make a great gift.
