Here to Go was originally released in September 1987, the second single from the album ‘Code’. Code was another step towards a more commercial product, although it was the first time a substantial amount of their sound was computer generated. This track still sounds as fresh as it did on the day of release. Wonderful, precise, percussive sounds punctuate. Throughout, dramatic sound sweeps. A magnificent question and answer structure develops between what is happening musically and vocally. Add feature guitarist Bill Nelson and this becomes a real unusual treat. I downloaded this to replace the cassette single I had mainly for the ‘Space Dub’ version which develops into a brilliant percussion dialogue. I’ll never tire of hearing this. Naturally, this didn’t perform commercially as everyone would have liked –it was so ahead of it’s time, as Cabaret Voltaire were themselves practically for their entire career. There are many remixes of this track: The original and ‘Little Dub’ on the actual album release, ‘Live Drum Jackknife Mix’ on Remixed, ‘Extended Mix’ on Original Sound of Sheffield ’83 – ’87 and yet more on vinyl in addition to the 4 we have here.
The files in this download are MPEG audio files (Format = MPEG-1 Layer 3) which download between 240 and 252kbps (VBR). The cover art file is of very poor quality. 5 star content on a 1 star format.
