What can one possibly say? Like the rest of the tracks on the album this is a schlocky affair which, nevertheles will sell on the strength of it being by Bob Dylan who can do no wrong in his fans eyes. However it is not as bad as Adeste Fidelis which has Dylan intoning Cod-Latin on the first verse. This is a weird and wonderless album that belongs in the oddities bin of your local record shop - if you have one. Okay, it's a charity record but that is no great gesture from someone of Dylan's financial stature but may be a factor in promoting sales keeping Dylan in the public eye.

Most of these carols and Christmas songs are so terribly well-known that I did not think that Bob could give anything new to them.But I think that he gives his own unique take on them with his raspy voice to take them to the rock generation that have followed him over many decades.And I think that he will also be a hit with young children who may not know his body of work.Even if people say that they don't believe in Christmas or Santa Claus doesn't mean they can't enjoy Bob rasping his way through some great classics !!!
It took nearly 50 years but here it is.The Dylan Christmas Album-which already seems to have 2 titles.
But what's all this? You don't have to have a great voice to do a Christmas album-Louis Armstrong proved that.Dylan is a singing STYLIST not a singer in the Pat Boone sense.
His Theme Time Radio shows how he likes 40s music and Bing Crosby.
So just be glad he did it
