I have a cheap sax stand, made of press bent and spot welded steel tubing, rough ugly thing, but does its job. However it's too cumbersome to carry when travelling, because it only folds its legs and ends up some 60 cm long. That's why I decided to buy this one, because it appeared to fold itself into a much smaller size.
When it arrived my jaw dropped open. It had what I was looking for and again more: the finish is superb and overall quality outstanding. It unfolds effortlessly but it's sturdy once assembled. The parts fold into each other, instead of away from each other like the one I had. This results in a nice little bundle that is easy to transport, and it's made easier by the nice carrying bag, that has a cordon that allows you to carry it hanging from your shoulder or across your back. But portability apart, it's a beautiful and well built object, photographs don't do justice to the visual impact you get when it's in front of you.
