Herb Craft claims to be a guide to the shamanic use of herbs in the native (British) tradition. The uses suggested fall more comfortably into kitchen witchery and a conventional ritual pattern than ecstatic shamanism, but perhaps that's what they meant...

This book's great strength is the vast mass of information around each herb - and there are lots. From how to recognise them - invaluable if out gathering wild plants - through cultivation, folklore, history, preparations, and magickal uses. The folklore in particular is excellent and richly detailed. At the end are a number of useful correspondence tables tying certain herbs to days, elements, planets, gods, etc.

This isn't the best herbal for making remedies, and to get a good magickal use out of it you'll have to have had some experience before - at least in basic casting. But there is a *lot* of information here and it's well presented.

I found this book to be full of information and it is a wonderful help in learning all the different association, to not only the elements, but to that of the station wheel, animal allies and more. It teaches you many ways to use in healing, magick and the lore of the Old Ways.

Real Herb Magic 30 Dec 2000
By A Customer - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
There are hundreds of herbs in this massive 600 page guide to the magical use of herbs. The book covers lore, history, healing, lore, folk uses, shamanic and ritual uses. It states that most magical herbals contain mere shadows of the real magic of herbs and sets out to give us some of that real magical lore. In addition there are chapters of using herbs for healing, preparing herbal remedies, making incenses (with recipes, herbal dyes, making herbal paper etc. I would say that if you can only buy one herbal, buy this one, because it will tell you more than twenty others.
