Product Description

Love history? Know your stuff with History in an Hour.

In his ambition to provide a male heir to the throne, Henry VIII married six times. Divorce from his first wife, Catherine of Aragon, caused England’s break from the Catholic church in Rome. He went on to divorce Anne of Cleves and behead Anne Boleyn and Katherine Howard for infidelities. Jane Seymour died and Catherine Parr survived Henry.

Henry VIII’s Wives in an Hour will introduce you to these six entirely diverse and captivating personalities and the events that propelled them to their individual fates. You will learn which wife had what impact on Henry and England and understand why Henry and his six wives form the most popular period of Tudor history.

Know your stuff: read about Henry VIII’s wives in just one hour.

4.0 out of 5 stars THOROUGHLY ENJOYABLE QUICK READ 20 Dec 2012

I have to admit to downloading this book because it was free for my Kindle and I enjoy the Tudor period of history immensely. Therefore, I am fairly well read on this era but I still thoroughly enjoyed this quick read. I'd recommend this as a really good starting point for anyone interested in Henry VIII's wives and/or Tudor history in general.

I really enjoyed Julie Wheeler's version of Anne of Cleves; some of the books I've read or listened to have not been so kind to her. There are pictures of paintings scattered throughout, which are particularly good for an ebook and the one of Anne of Cleves is one of my favourites and very flattering.

Well written and concise there is a lot of history compressed into this little book.

4.0 out of 5 stars A good quick reminder 14 Jun 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
Well written and easily digestible. It quickly brought to mind things that I had forgotten or had lost some perspective. It is good for "oldies" like me to remind themselves of things that we learned sixty or seventy years ago. To be reminded is enjoyable as well as being instructive.
I will definitely try some of the other similar products.

3.0 out of 5 stars Does what it says on the tin...... 7 Jun 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
An interesting, well-told account of 'Henry's many wives, and it is a complicated mix of subterfuge, plots and shenanigans.

I have already forgotten the finer details but I did enjoy learning about the background details of his wives. There was very little about Henry himself, he probably has his own one hour book I guess!
