'A Help In Grief' is an immensely helpful book. It is nicely paced, and is written on the understanding that those who are bereaved may well want to dip in and out of it, depending on where they are on their journey of grief. Each of the authors brings to the writing their own experience of loss, but they manage to do so without making any assumptions of the reader and their experience.
The text is divided nicely between the personal and practical aspects of coping after loss, and has proved to be a great resource. As someone who is fairly newly ordained, finding material that is sensitively written which encompasses the emotional aspects of grieving, as well as providing pragmatic information is a real gift.
We've just begun to use it as part of our bereavement support, offering a copy to all those who are recently bereaved. So far, it has been very well-received and has been helpful not just to those we are caring for, but also for those who offer support. Definitely worth having some on the bookshelf!
