Amazing art, dark storyline, unconventional layout, the cleanest dirty storyline I have ever seen. Any body who reads this book and doesn't enjoy it clearly has no imagination as the depth of the book is masterfully constructed to allow your imagination to run free with the loose imaging. A fantastic must have for any comic collector, Spawn fan or not!

Disappointing,

I'm a huge fan of the Spawn series and have been for a number of years, although I wouldn't be a big fan of Steve Niles or Ben Templesmith I thought that it would be a good read as it was still Spawn. Unfortunately I was wrong and I struggled to keep the enthusiasm to even finish the book. I was utterly disappointed but still can't wait to get my next volumes of Spawn 4-6 =)If you are a fan I would seriously avoid this but if like myself you will probably want to see for yourself but you have been warned lol.

First holding this HC is amazing, the quality and content in this collection is by far the best in terms of value. The $26 price point for a stunner like this is reason enough to purchase the book. Bendis, Niles, and Wood have put together a timeless Spawn story that if missed would be a enternity of reckoning cast upon your soul. The dark eerie mood set up by Wood's art is breathtaking, while Bendis and Niles story telling is top notch. I'm just getting into the Spawn universe, collecting the "Origins" books(highly reccommend)and starting on "Endgame" now, and I have to say not knowing much about Spawn, HellSpawn is a book newcomers should read. If you keep seeing this title pop up on your Amazon page just do yourself the favor and pick it up; the 500 pages,$26 price, Bendis, Niles, and Wood is enough reason, but the fact it's Spawn just puts the icing on the cake.

The fantastic, gritty art of Ashley Wood compliments the graphic story of the anti hero Spawn in this book of dark tales and dark humor. This is definitely not a comic for kids the story and themes are undoubtedly aimed at an adult audience. This collection features the entire Hellspawn story and ends with a sketchbook with a few of Wood's characters sketches and of course all the cover art by Wood and Ben Templesmith - all wrapped in a nice matte hard cover.

This is not the standard high color classic art style usually represented in Spawn titles. Never-the-less it works. It has a feel that reminds me of medieval representations of demons and conflict ,and it definately works. The writing is sloid,and you will easily breeze through the 500 pages faster than you think,its hard to put down.
