Product Description

Supernatural villain Pinhead (Doug Bradley) finds himself on the wrong side of the law in this, the fifth film in the Hellraiser franchise. Joseph (Craig Sheffer) is a detective with the L.A.P.D. who one morning discovers he's no longer living in California - he's been exiled to Hades, and the only way to escape is by solving the mystery of the all-powerful puzzle box. The box is now in the hands of the fearsome demon Pinhead, and Joseph finds himself in a life-and-death struggle with the demon for control of the puzzle box.

4.0 out of 5 stars Different to the others 19 Nov 2008
By Chrisl
Format:DVD
For me it is best to think of this film as a prequel rather than a sequel, as you find out the basics of Pinhead et-al, and a little more of what it's all about. It not the normal 'lots of blood' Hellraiser, it's more psychological and does make a nice change. I was pleased with this film, even if you don't know much or haven't seen the other Hellraiser films you can still watch it easy enough. You can then go and watch the other much more violent films safe in the knowledge that Pinhead can not only rip you apart but can also mess with your head!

3.0 out of 5 stars Better than expected 22 Mar 2004
By A R Hartley VINE™ VOICE
Format:DVD
Well ive seen all of the Hellraiser sequels and this is one of the better ones made.

Hellraiser 5 was hit hard by critics and it didnt help it being released straight to DVD/Video, So when i came to watching this movie i was expecting a mess of bad writing and poor budget filming. But i have to admit i was pleasently suprised. The film centres around a "Bad" cop who is trying to find a kidnapped girl. Feeling this is the case to justify his role in the force, he goes head first into it and upsets a few people on the way. But as he delves deeper into the case he realises that the source of all the problems are coming from the infamous puzzle box. At first the film can seem confusing but it does fit nicely together later on.

On the whole its a good film, nicely written and has a great underated lead actor. The cenobites are awesome and look quite disturbing. Dont be put off by the straight to DVD release, its alot better than most of the horrors hollywood churns out.

2.0 out of 5 stars Am I Going To Like This?! 24 Jun 2012
Format:DVD
Now I don't know what instalment this is. I've seen the first four Hellraiser movies.

"You played right into my game Professor! - Next week?!"

So the main character is a cop / detective.

He is a bent cop, (dishonest) and he comes into possession of the box, (he'd have to though wouldn't he?!)

He actually strikes me as a bit of a Patrick Bateman character.

He opens the box and goes into some dream like experience.

We see a return of a different formed version of the monster with the chattering teeth, (from the first two movies).

The dialogue is not very strong and very cliche.

Although this was filmed in 2000, it actually seems older!

So far I think the first instalment is a lot superior!

He's an arch manipulator!

"I know what was on it. I know what I saw."

I'm quite annoyed. Pinhead has only briefly been in the movie!

So he goes to see a Shrink.

He seems to be hallucinating a lot!

"You opened the box?!"
- "Yeh. Last night!"

It just doesn't have the same bite so to speak as some of the early Hellraisers!

Is he just going to wake up and its all a dream?! (That would be typical!)

Hell is very obvious in the early instalments but not in this part.

"Go back Joseph. Go home!"

Even though its a short movie, it seems to go on for a long time!

"Who is the King in this game Joseph? That is the question you must ask yourself!"
