Dudley is a hand puppet set inside a book. He has bad manners - shouting instead of singing, talking in the cinema and refusing to clean his teeth.
Verity (2 1/2 years old) loves him and we have used Dudley to teach her what good manners are. As well as asking us to control and be Dudley's voice, she will also sometime control him herself and have long conversations with him.
To make a book interactive by simply combining it with a hand puppet is a genius idea and it makes a refreshing change from 'sit down and listen' storytelling.
An easy 5 stars.

My 3 and 4 year old daughters dissolved into fits of giggles at this one. It is a glove puppet inside a book (you operate it from the back). They just love the fact that Dudley leaps out of the book to talk, eat, sing, sneeze and snore at them, and that they choose what he does next. We have Calm Down Boris by the same author on order. If it's half as good I'll be pleased. Only downside is that the girls didn't rate Dudley's singing very highly . . . erm, maybe I should go and practice a bit more.

Well, I don't usually bother to write reviews for anything i buy or have, but always read them so hopefully this will help anyone thinking about buying this book. Do it. Do it now.
My 2 year old son loves this book and especially the naughtiness of Dudley with his sneezing and burping and 'special present' in the bathroom lavatory (if you have the book, you'll know what i mean!)
In our house if my son accidentally burps (or worse) the first thing out of his mouth is "Oh Dudley!" ....very funny.
A great interactive book and one you will read with your little ones again and again..I'm off to get some more Sam Lloyd books now!

I love the sam lloyd books my children have most of them they love all the different puppets they really capture their imagination. they are such fun.
