Critics of the movie always come out with the same line that Streisand was too young to play this role. They may be right but what they fail to see is that she really makes the part her own. I think it's a truely fantastic performance and lets face it who else is going to sing the songs as well as Streisand. 'Before the parade passes by' (how long is that final note?) and 'Hello Dolly' with Louis Armstrong are classics. Also 'Love is only love' is a lovely little ballad specially written for the movie that shows off Streisand's more tender note making. Crawford is less annoying here than usual and if you ever need cheering up 'Put on your Sunday clothes when you feel down and out'...

You can't beat the original film soundtrack. Good quality from the original cast. Yes I'm aware the odd actor was voiced over, but not the important ones.
Sadly Hollywood doesn't seem to be bothered with too many blockbuster musicals anymore, so it's nice to get a good sound track worth it's money and hark back to the days of the big musicals.
All the music from the film is there.

never seen the film but love Barbra Streisand she did a good job even though she said she was too young for the part.
