By R. A. Murtagh VINE™ VOICE
Format:Paperback
I own most of the Hellblazer Graphic Novels, and this ranks as my second favourite (so far).

It's a nice, bulky volume, filled with short stories about the psychic anti-hero: John Constantine. Excellent value for money when compared to some of the other titles, which are priced the same but smaller. The stories on offer here range from demonic possessions to religious cults. Plus, you'll discover why it doesn't pay to be John's friend!

If you're new to Constantine, perhaps having recently watched the movie, then my advice is to begin your collection with "HAUNTED" and this one, but if possible, go for "HAUNTED" first as it paves the way for further reading (and it's a TERRIFIC tale of horror, violence and black magic!) - Whatever you do though.... DON'T buy the comic adaptation of the movie as it STINKS! The adaptation is rushed, and the three accompanying Hellblazer stories are simply "tasters" from other graphic novels in the series. You have been warned!

John goes solo 20 Nov 2000
Format:Paperback
Originally created by Alan Moore in Swamp Thing, ever popular Hellblazer was given his own long overdue series.

Ably written by Jamie Delano, a stalwart of British comics, we get to know the Silk Cut smoking, trenchcoat wearing lad from Liverpool as he takes on the fiends of hell.

These first issues bring the character out, he's a con-man a liar and cheat but if no one's looking and no one will hear about it then he's apt to save the world.

No super speed or spider bites here, just an honest rogue with nothing but a little magic and his ample wits to keep him alive.

It is because Hellblazer is so normal that this book is a pleasure to read.

Excellent 25 Feb 2007
Format:Paperback
I think this graphic novel is excellent and is a good place to start if you want to get into Hellblazer(obviously). My favourite story in this collection is the last one, since it is very mysterious.

If you enjoy reading stories about the occult, black magic and demons this is the book for you. There is a lot of character development over just 9 issues. Great!
