Review

"* "If Alan Moore is the father... then Peter Milligan (Animal Man, Enigma, and Shade the Changing Man) is an influential and doting uncle. The team offers a clean style which stands in the face of the gritty look often seen in older Hellblazer issues... It's a refreshing change, and I'm looking forward to seeing where this storyline goes." --Comic Book Bin

Believe it or not, Constantine falls in love but, as always, he deals with it his way. and as always, "his way" means that you'll not get bored because this is as far from a common love story as for example Exorcist.

Anyway, the writer made sure that the reader gets "hooked" as well and artwork of Hellblazer is excellent by standard.

One word summary: great comix!

great gothic horror 1 Dec 2010

I'm so happy that I've found my way back to hellblazer and this follow up to the great Scab-book is a great read, filled with the usual gritty Constantine-humor and mindblowingly scary at the same time, can't wait to read the Hellblazer India-book.

I am Hooked -really. 16 Feb 2012

I ordered this TPB out of the blue, not having read Hellblazer for Years. The reason is Peter Milligan (Shade, Skreemer etc.), and loved it from cover to cover. There is magic in this book, demons, what you expect from a John Constantine adventure, but that is only on the surface, the real important stuff is uncorresponded love. The Story , without spoiling things up is John s Constantine s girlfriend has dumped him so he goes to a friend , a young female alchemist that has a crush on him to ask for a Love Potion, and that is when things really start turning sour.

Another thing to note is Milligan s talent to portray Constantine as a bastard with no loyalty to anybody, save himself, and willing to do anything. On a basic analyisis he is a bad guy, dont ask me how he does it , but Milligan makes him likeable on every way.

Well now you might understand, why this series has got me hooked , looking forward to the next two tpb by Milligan, and the 4 stars are just because this edition is on cheap newspaper print.
