Too Tarantinoesque, 10 Jan 2009
a pastiche/tribute/ripoff/reimagining or whatever of the late 60s biker exploitation movies of Roger Corman and his ilk, 'Hell Ride' is an enjoyable enough hour and a half of bikes, bloodletting and bootyshaking spoilt by the fact that it's far too in thrall to the work of the executive producer, Quentin Tarantino. Every single Taratino trope of the last 15 years is apparent: The non-linear storytelling, the references to 60s B-movies, Michael Madsen, the cool soundtrack of obscure rock tunes, the supporting roles played by David Carradine and Dennis Hopper - you name it, it's here. Director/Writer/Lead Larry Bishop also carries on the Tarantino tradition of playing unsuitable roles in his own movies, here playing the charismatic leader of a motorcycle gang despite looking like someone who works in a comic book store. As I said, I liked it, but I'm a sucker for this sort of thing. Objectively, it's rubbish. Oh, and Vinnie Jones is terrible even by his own low standards.

The Amazon Review/ Description Doesn't Convey How Bad It Is, 30 Sep 2009
Don't be fooled by Amazon's review/ description of Hell Ride, which makes it out to be a rather exciting film about gang wars. It's not. Frankly, I'm not sure if they were having a laugh, especially when they mentioned a certain person's 'outstanding' accent (more on that later).
This film is dire and not even worth renting. Yes, a good few people get shot or harpooned along the way, but honestly, there's no tension at any point and it just plods along, the plot being so thin as-to be near non-existent. Indeed, it just comes to an end after 80 minutes, by which time you've lost all interest, forgotten what happened in the opening scenes, don't care who was gunning for who, and wonder why you wasted the time watching it.
If you're hoping to see the edgy Madsen from Reservoir Dogs, or some classic Dennis Hopper, you will be sorely disappointed. Either those two actors have lost it, or more likely, they had nothing to work with here and the script made them look very average indeed. Actually, it's all a bit amateurish, and one wonders how this movie ever got made.
And to top it off, when you realise that Vinnie Jones is in the film, and witness his wavering, pirate-like American accent and truly terrible schoolboy-style acting, you know for sure that you've been sold a dud.
Although this film might appeal to fans of 'biker gangs' in general, I would steer clear if I were you, because it's all a bit pointless and dull, the link with Tarantino being somewhat tenuous and even borderline misleading as-to what you're likely to get.

What On Earth Was This?, 28 Sep 2009
Watched this last night to be in shock of what I was seeing, this was a truely terrible film. There was hardly a plot (a group of bikers wanting revenge on a enemy bike gang after a grisly murder that happened in 1976 and the murder of their leader), B rated actors only Dennis Hopper to be the greatest out of the lot (Vinnie Jones was just terrible), sex and nude women (basiclly a man movie only) and the action was very small only with some added blood. Even the ending was stupid, argh! I'm probably going to get some comments about this review but I would like a film that had a plot, intresting actors that convince you, a running time that isn't too long or short, not just half naked women all the time and some laughs if it's that sort of genre. I hated this film, sorry if anyone else like this but I just don't like it and people are allowed to have their opintions. A very disappointing one star.
