Review

A grimly fascinating collection that refuses to take itself to seriously, a proper post-modern, Pop Art-inspired gore-fest
-- Grafik

Product Description

The first book to focus on new gothic art, Hell Bound highlights a generation of contemporary artists who are increasingly obsessed with the darker things in life. Illustrators, street artists, sculptors, photographers, filmmakers, installation artists and painters are all reflecting this renewed interest in gothic imagery. Horror has become a more accepted part of everyday life - and art, as always, is a reflection of life. Here death metal, the war on terror and throwaway pop culture meet, feeding the popular fascination for all things gothic. Among the art featured is the iconoclastic work of Ken Kagami, Terence Koh, Ricky Swallow, the photographic collages of Marnie Weber, the drawings of Chloe Piene and Wes Lang, the paintings of Matt Greene and Iris Van Dongen, the outsider punk art of Pure Evil and the illustrations of French.

This book is an amazing little find i found it in an article for a vogue magazine which featured some of the work inside. I had to have the book and its layout perfect for the dark image content, i found it extreamly inspiring for my graphics course. I was also amazed at the speedy delivery time and low cost for such a treasure and i will definatly be using amazon again :)

love this book!! so full of unusual art works, and artist's.. its a breath of freach air, looking at art thats not got to far up its own bum! the write up's are written really well, not in "Artist Speak" which is nice... to many art books talk a lot of extra rubbish, this book give's info and description in a day to day sort of manner. The pictures are good quality and there's lots of them!! over all nice book!

Pathetic. 29 Sep 2011
By Ypres
Format:Paperback
Nothing in this book is worth looking at apart from a few drawings by Sarah Woodfine, right at the end. I'd like to say more, but in this country's litigious climate I could get sued for it. Take my advice folks, and save your hard-earned cash for something better.
