This ultra portable monocular has brilliant Bak 4 prisms, multi-coated objective lens and offers a serious 7x magnification and focuses down to a stunning 45cm (18") but weighs just 214g!

Macro function: close-focus 45cm! Ideal for general nature studies and observation of distant objects, as well as for extreme close-up work. The macro performance allows it to focus down to as near as 45cm, allowing it also to be used for the examination of butterflies, insects and more!
Features twist-up rubber eye-cups and fitted with tripod bush (see picture).
It measures just 128mm x 40mm - that's small enough to put in a jacket pocket!

the helios monocular was purchased for my wife to use as she has a problem with focusing both eyes on targets. this item is probable the best remedy for the problem and i have no hesitation in saying it is the best product of its kind and would recommend it to any one who has a similar problem.

The key selling point for me for this item was the close focus, something I required more than anything else in a monocular, so 5 stars for that function. Although the descrpiton here says 30cms the manual (sheet) that comes with this states 18inches, so more like 45cm.
The product itself is well protected with the rubber coating, it has diopter correction and rotatable rising eyepiece (these things don't seem to be mentioned anywhere). I was slightly disappointed to discover that there are no caps, either for the objective lens or the eyepiece. I would have been prepared to pay more had these been included.
Optically it's not perfect but at this price it's not be be expected. I do find that the field of view is not completely flat and that there are some chromatic abberations, probably a coatings issue.
