4.0 out of 5 stars Something a bit different 12 Jan 2009
Format:Mass Market Paperback
Being a big fan of warhammer the story of the coming of sigmar was one that was of a lot of interest to me. Inspired by how much i have enjoyed the horus heresy series so far i decided to read heldenhammer.

The main character is obviously Sigmar Heldenhammer, the man who will one day become like a god to the people of the emperor. I was a bit worried with how this was going to be written, but once i started i realised i needn't have been. It is written just like the story of any other man, getting into his emotions and troubles, all the while set against the time of a troubled land where men are divided and set against each other for power.

A good interesting book, with a collection of realistic and inspiring characters.

5.0 out of 5 stars Yup 4 Sep 2009
Format:Mass Market Paperback
Awesome book. If you have knowledge of the Warhammer universe. This book explains why human kind, worships Sigmar as some kind of saint, I would.

Sigmar is great character and is well written into this previously untouched Warhammer era.
I'm looking forward to the next books.

It's a great book.

5.0 out of 5 stars The rise of Sigmar 2 April 2009
By T. R. Alexander TOP 500 REVIEWER VINE™ VOICE
Format:Mass Market Paperback
Sigmar Heldenhammer was the mighty champion of men who forged the disparate tribes of man into the Empire and is now worshiped as a god. This first book in the Sigmar Trilogy tells the story of Sigmar from his first battle in command of the warriors of the Unberogen tribe to the Battle of Black Fire Pass, possibly the most important battle in the history of the Warhammer World.

This first book in the Sigmar Trilogy is definitely one of the beast Warhammer books that I have read in a while. The tone of the book is ideal for the setting and although the story of Sigmar is generally reasonably well known, this book tells the tale with few if any major deviations from the established history. The battles in the book are all very well written and interesting while the characters and setting are generally well developed and gives you an excellent insight into the Warhammer World during this period.

This book isn't totally perfect however as it is unfortunately extremely predictable and does trail off somewhat in the middle. This is more than made up for by the books strengths and it was also surprisingly emotional in a couple of places. Yes the story is predictable and probably a bit cheesy in places but it is still a glorious tale worthy of a living god.
