Product Description
The dramatic new Ravenscar novel from the international bestselling author of Woman of Substance. As the First World War draws to a close, all seems golden for young Edward Deravenel, charismatic head of the family empire and master of Ravenscar. Yet beneath the surface lies discord. Elizabeth Deravenel, his beautiful wife, is jealous and her lies and gossip damage the family name. Worse still is Edward's brother George. His reckless behaviour and treachery lead to blackmail and betrayal. The fortunes of the house of Deravenel begin to suffer. It is up to Edward's daughter Bess, and her son Harry to secure the Ravenscar inheritance -- whatever it takes! Ravenscar: A House. A Legacy. A Dynasty.

1.0 out of 5 stars no stars, 14 Mar 2008

I hoped that this sequel would make up for the dreadful Ravenscar Dynasty but it is awful. It follows the story of the end of the Plantagenets and the rise of the Tudors but set in the 2oth century; so if you know a little history the storyline will be predictable. I would say the only enjoyment is wondering how she is going to bump them all off! It is no longer possible to behead your wife. Please Barbara go back to your old style.

1.0 out of 5 stars Heirs of Ravenscar, 2 Aug 2008
By M. Burton (Essex) - See all my reviews

I give this book one star mainly because it never got started. Theres over 300 pages and it never got started. It felt like I was reading a persons day to day life, not very interesting. Some parts of the book were enjoyable to read but overall it just never took off and never kept my interest for long

2.0 out of 5 stars most disappointing, 2 Jan 2008
By Jacqueline Rohmann (Germany) - See all my reviews

This review is from: Heirs of Ravenscar (Hardcover)
Heirs of Ravenscar was a great disappointment. The standard of writing was abysmal: as soon as there was a risk of characters becoming too complicated, they were simply killed off. No attempt was made to follow through any lines of the plot, so that the frequent time leaps left the reader floundering, with previously important aspects simply ignored - take for example Ned's problems with his wife and her unacceptable behaviour, which having played a major role in the book simply fizzles out and no longer features. No credibility, no consistency - the author has seriously let the readers down.
