Book Description

15 Jan 2009

They were born to the scent of success. Now they stand to lose it all ...

Fame, fashion and scandal, the Trevellyan heiresses are the height of success, glamour and style.

But when it comes to ...

... WEALTH: Jemima's indulgent lifestyle knows no limits; Tara's one purpose in life, no matter the sacrifice, is to be financially independent of her family and husband; and Poppy wants to escape its trappings without losing the comfort their family money brings.

... LUST: Jemima's obsession relieves the boredom of her marriage; while Tara's seemingly 'perfect' life doesn't allow for such indulgences; and Poppy, spoiled by attention and love throughout her life, has yet to expose herself to the thrill of really living and loving dangerously.

... FAMILY: it's all they've ever known, and now the legacy of their parents, a vast and ailing perfume empire, has been left in their trust. But will they be able to turn their passion into profit? And in making a fresh start, can they face their family's past?

More About the Author

Lulu Taylor is the author of four novels, HEIRESSES, MIDNIGHT GIRLS, BEAUTIFUL CREATURES and OUTRAGEOUS FORTUNE. Her books are set in the world of high society and vividly portray the wild, wealthy and sometimes hedonistic lifestyle of the gorgeous young things who inhabit it. Full of drama and passion, these novels are racy and utterly engrossing, taking you deep into the characters' lives. As sexy and pacy as any good blockbuster, Lulu's books have a special page-turning quality that comes from her ability to give her characters heart and soul: they may be rich, beautiful and privileged, but they're real people too, who have their hearts broken or their passions stirred, who make mistakes or who have to prove themselves.

HEIRESSES takes the reader into the world of perfume when three sisters inherit a family business once full of prestige but now on its knees. Can they rescue it from the clutches of a businessman who wants to buy them out, and the machinations of the malevolent Jecca? What is her secret tie to the Trevellyan sisters?

MIDNIGHT GIRLS is set in the world of exclusive, luxurious members clubs, and charts the lives of three friends who share a dark secret from their time at boarding school. When friendship turns to enmity, all is fair in love and war...

BEAUTIFUL CREATURES is a modern Gothic fairytale, the story of gorgeous identical twins, Octavia and Flora, who inherit a fortune on their twenty-first birthdays. But the world is a nastier and more dangerous place than they realise, and there are dangers at every turn...

OUTRAGEOUS FORTUNE tells the story of Daisy Dangerfield and Chanelle Hughes, two girls born on the same day in very different circumstances, whose paths are destined to cross in very unexpected ways...

Lulu was brought up in English countryside and was educated at an Oxfordshire girls school and Oxford University. She has lived and travelled all over the world but now lives in London with her husband. Visit her Facebook page, website at www.lulutaylor.co.uk or follow her on Twitter @misslulutaylor

Product Description

"It's cold, it's dark, you're more skint than you thought ever possible, so what's going to cheer you up? A racy novel about the life and loves of people who spend more in a weekend than you earn in a year, of course. Seriously, it may sound crazy, but nothing lifts the winter blues quite like a glam bonkbuster, and Heiresses is one of the highest pedigree. It follows the fortunes of the three Trevellyan sisters who are coming to terms with the financial mess they've been left in since their mother's death. You'll be instantly drawn into their world....Addictive, decadent and sexy, it'll easily see you through the depths of winter's most depressing month." 5*

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful!! 16 Mar 2009
I was very pleasantly surprised by Lulu Taylor's Heiresses. Being a great fan of Tasmina Perry and Lesley Lokko, I found myself liking this book even more! Less nasty and superficial than Tasmina Perry, yet more airy and glamourous than Lesley Lokko, Heiresses is the perfect escapist novel: warm, with great characters that you come to love. The Trevelyan sisters overcome their poor little rich girl-lives and find their strength to save their family perfumery (and find their true loves on the way).
I'm already looking forward to Lulu Taylor's next nove, Midnight girls, and in the meantime I highly recommend delving into this great read!

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic girly read 12 Jan 2009
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
This is a fantastic, girly read. When I started Heiresses somehow I managed to finish it in days where normally it takes me months to finish a book. I simply couldn't put it down. Every moment I had, my nose was in the pages and the household chores remained unfinished.

It is an easy read full of dramas and love. The characters have been written so well that you hate some, fall in love with others or just want to be them. It gave me an insight into how the other half live. What I would do if I had money!! There are some parts of the book (which there are many)that are positively sizzling.

I'm on Amazon today to buy three more copies to send to my friends.

I hope you enjoy it as much as me.

3.0 out of 5 stars I quite liked this! 25 May 2010
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
I bought this to try something new as I normally prefer a different kind of book. I had just finished all the 'True Blood' and 'Twilight' books and the Larsson 'The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo' trilogy. I felt like reading something completely different. And...I really quite liked it! the story kept up a good pace and, although it may have been a bit unrealistic and cliched in a 'soap opera' way in places, I guess that was to be expected of this sort of book. If you are, like me, thinking of trying it out as something different from your normal books, you could do worse than this book. It's good fun.

4.0 out of 5 stars glossy escapism and pure indulgence 16 Nov 2009
Having recently read all Tasmina Perry's novels and not being able to find anything to match (no other book seems good enough at the moment) I was pleased to come across Lulu Taylor's `Heiresses'. After reading some reviews on Amazon I thought it sounded like a good `in-between' read while I waited for `Original Sin' to be published in paperback. And I certainly was NOT disappointed. This is a great read with all the right ingredients: glamour, beautiful people, love, sex, scandal, ambition...

Don't let the picture on the front cover (showing three young girls lying about) fool you. All three of the Trevellyan sisters (Tara, Jemima and even the youngest Poppy) are strong women, with a challenging task ahead of them - to turn around the fortune of the perfume company they have inherited from their mother. If they fail to do so it will all go to the evil Jecca. I would have liked the plot to explore a little bit further the story of the whole Trevellyan family, the relationship Tara, Jemima and Poppy had with their parents, and Jecca, since a lot of my questions were left unanswered. Nevertheless, this does not take anything away from the main storyline, which is set at a good pace and also has a few interesting side characters. And of course there are the love lives of all three sisters to get sorted out by the end of the book - with men that I felt were the perfect match for each of them.

This is pure escapism - if you are hoping for characters you can relate to I suggest you look elsewhere! If instead you enjoy fantasising about glossy people, who live in a world of designer clothes and champagne, then you are in for a treat.

5.0 out of 5 stars Might Make You Blush on the Bus! 12 Jun 2010
I really enjoyed reading Heiresses, which is one of the new blockbusters that are popping up all over the place - Lulu Taylor is definitely on her way with this promising debut. The description of how three spoilt young things get a grip on their family business was nicely engaging and interesting with good details about the perfume business. It is pretty saucy as well, but in a convincing sort of way. Altogether, Lulu Taylor would be an author I would pick to relax with on the beach.

Working my way through lulu's books! Great holiday reading if you are sunbathing by the pool but nice indulgence any time especially if you not easily shocked when it gets a bit frisky! Not quite 50 shades but very good!
