Awesome 5 Oct 2003
By Uenna TOP 500 REVIEWER VINE™ VOICE
Format:Paperback
Ione Garkis is the adopted child of a muliti-millonaire who is a first class chauvinistic bully of a dad. With the death of his son, Ione's step- brother, she would become one of the richest young women as his heiress. However her wealth cannot buy her what she yearns most-freedom. When her father orders her to marry Greek Tycoon Alexio Christoulakis, Ione agrees with the secret intention to disappear on her wedding night, thereby using Leo as her ticket to freedom. However the best laid plans falls apart as Ione finds her self captivated by the charm and charisma of Alexio.
This was one of the best books from Lynne Graham. A tale of pure romantic ideals from the hero and naivity and a strong sense of survival from the heroine. They both found pure love and worked exra hard not to allow their ego and vanity to scupper the wonderful love and relationship that was blossoming between them. They worked hard at communicating to one another even when it would have been easier to let the ego/vanity come between them. If you have read 'Arabiam Marriage' and the 'Disobedient Mistress' this is the third book of the triology and Lynne did a good job of linking all three sisters in this book. It is a very emotional story,I read it in 2 continous hrs, unable to put it down until I read the last word. This is a must read for all romance lovers- throw together an alpha Greek tycoon male and a naive heiress bride with an inventive strong sense of survival and you get a super romantic tale.

This is one of my favorite Lynne Graham books, and I am sure it must be quite popular with other readers to merit a re -release. It is a compelling and gripping emotional tale of love, intrigue and survival.

Poor little rich girl 6 Nov 2002
By A Customer - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Mass Market Paperback
Ione Gakis, one of the richest young women in the world, yearns for freedom. When her father orders her to marry Greek tycoon Alexio Christoulakis, Ione secretly plans to disappear without a trace on the wedding night. However, this one is a little darker than most of her other stories. There is not any of that offbeat humor some of the stories have and I gave it three stars because I didn't care for the resolution of the conflict between Ione and her father. When he is dying, she goes back to be with him and gets all upset that he's helpless. A better plot conflict would have been that she didn't go back and Alexio won't understand why.

Absolutely The Best : ) 25 July 2006
By S - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Mass Market Paperback
back: Ione Gakis is one of the richest young women in the world. When her father orders her to marry Greek tycoon Alexio Christoulakis, Ione secretly plans to disappear on the wedding night...But she finds herself captivated by her husband-to-be`s charisma...

opinion: best Harlequin I have read...I love you always Ione and Alexio Christoulakis : )

best part of the book in my opinion:
"Alexio saw Edward the bear before he recognized his wife. Her back turned to him, a young girl who looked like a teenager was gazing into a shop with bear who might have been Edward`s double tucked beneath her arm. Alexio stilled, his gaze welding to the glorious fall of platinum fair hair falling to the girl`s waist. Ione? Could it be? In a chequer-board print skirt so tiny she should have been arrested for wearing it? Not to mention a pink crop top that exposed her bare midriff and absurd shoes with heels studded with stones that glittered?
Ione? Alexio was stunned, incredulous and awake to the reality that there was not a man within fifty yards failing to pay heed to her. He watched her stroll on to a magazine display and the slow, gliding walk was pure sex and Ione to the hilt. He saw her full face and snatched in a startled breath. The madonna perfection had been enhanced with cosmetics. She looked bloody spectacular, Alexio thought with a sudden stab of fury. He watched his wife produce an entire handful of high domination currency to buy one little magazine. The guy on the stand was so entranced by the fairy-tale princess before him that he started to explain what the notes were."

My least favorite Lynne Graham book!!! 25 Oct 2010
By Pholuke - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Mass Market Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
Ok...so in my opinion, this book is not that great, in fact, it is the worst Lynne Graham book I've read.

First, it was a little too dark for me, almost to the point of being depressive! I didn't care for the immature nature of Ione- always trying to run away, and couldn't face up to anything or anyone! She didn't even seem to want to do anything with her life, didn't seem to have any dreams, hopes, aspirations, nothing! She was like a teenager- agreed she was confined but hello, did she even get any form of education beyond the high school education we were told about? I have another Lynne Graham book and I'm pretty sure that will wipe away this one off my memory. Go Lynne Graham- I still love your books :D
