Book Description

28 May 2004 0435327534 978-0435327538 1
Heinemann Advanced History has quickly established itself as a major series for AS and A-level students. As well as word-of-mouth success, it has been praised in journals such as the Times Educational Supplement and BBC History Magazine. What makes Heinemann Advanced History so attractive to teachers and students? - It's cost-effective. Each book offers complete coverage of one AS/A-level topic, so teachers and students buy the books that apply to their specific courses. - Thorough and up-to-date exam practice includes sample questions, advice on what makes a good answer and help for students on how to interpret the material, as well as and plan essays. - The expert authors have teaching and examination experience, giving teachers confidence in the series. PLUS: Profile-raising campaign. To include press advertising in New Perspective and Teaching History - making sure teachers are aware of the full range of 30 titles; and encouraging students to buy their own copies.

5.0 out of 5 stars Exceptional Series 1 Jun 2004
Format:Paperback
Although I do not own this particular book in the series I own many others. They have been invaluable to me in taking my AS and A level exams. They are written with the requirements of the main A level exam boardss (EdExcel,OCR and AQA)in mind and as such they give you all you need to know. The layout of the book is also exemplarary. They have individual sections for each topic where they start off with an overview and then go into a lot of detail. The margins are used to explain key words, terms and events. I would describe these books as essential to achieving a good grade at A Level. I myself achieved a high A at AS and I don't think I could have done it without the Heinemman books. Even if you are not studying the British Empire you should definately check to see whether Heinemman have released a book on your subject. Chances are those geniuses probably have!
