Book Description

17 Sep 2010
It is the summer of 1958 and this novel focuses on a group of Teddy boys as they grope their way through adolescence, race motorbikes and thumb their noses at parents and authority. The gang has been taken over by Deiter, an ex Hitler youth member, brought to Britain against his wishes at the end of the war to join his father and brother. These two elected to stay in Britain when released from a POW camp. Deiter is digusted at his father's acceptance of Germany's surrender and now has new battles to fight, this time against his own family and post war society. The gang's lives are changed irrevocably by a murder which threatens them all with the hangman's noose. This novel captures the feel of the times, the impact of rock n roll, the phenomenon of teenagers and teddyboys and the generation conflicts arising from the effects of the war. Like all good stories, the twists show that things are not always as they first appear to be.

More About the Author

I was born and spent the first 21 years of my life in the suburbs of London. I attended Woolwich Polytechnic where the English teacher encouraged me with my writing. I have a love of books, both fiction and non-fiction. Old books hold a special fascination for me, as I turn the pages I think of all the people down the ages that have read it before me.
I have travelled widely, including two trips up the Amazon river, but they were not the usual tourist type trip. I travelled with two indigenous people in a dugout canoe. My other major interest is music. Where possible I prefer to play vinyl records on my KB radiogram or my Rogers cadet Mk3 amplifier.
The novel I have just completed is a seqel to "Cordelia." I didn't plan things that way but readers asked "what happened next?" so ...
The title of this sequel is "To have and to hold..."
My next novel is a complete change of genre and a welcome challenge.
In the mean time I am pleased to announce that my first four novels are now available on Kindle.

When I bought this I'd thought the title was a misprint...well it isn't - and to explain more would give away part of the plot - which I'm not gonna do as this is a MUST READ for anyone interested in the nascent teddy boy/rocker scene. The attention to detail is amazing and best of all it rings dead true - no phony happy days soda pop nostalgia - just post war Britain in all it's austere glory. Better still, the characters aren't the usual stereotypes and the plot is totally captivating with a twist or two at the end that I, for one, didn't see coming.
Anyway, enough from me - just buy this - you won't regret it!
