This latest lounge groove offering from Hed Kandi picks up from where Nu Cool left off. You can forget Lounge Kandi 2008 because that was an uninspired mess of an album, but this, well!! HK seem to have finally sorted themselves out recently - the quality of the tracklisting on this album is simply superb. I've just finished listening to both CD's and I'm highly impressed. I own every Kandi CD produced including the Stereo Sushi series and this is in the top 10.
As suggested in the title this is not the usual glittery disco and funky house, but a more laid back melodic voyage along the coast of house music. This is the perfect sunday morning antidote or for just chilling on an evening in. Brilliant album, no doubt about it.

Im so glad Hed Kandi made the decision to scrap Nu cool and create something a bit more diverse in flava. this has paved the way for additions of french electronica and breakbeat that would have seemed a little out of place on a nu cool release. but fear not Nu cool fans there is plenty to pay homage to its predecessor with tracks like Belleruche - Anything You Want, Bennson Can't Get Enough . and not to mention the brand new track from Reel people that is literally hot off the press. Kandi lounge 2008 is chocker full of amazing tunes, ignore the typical trolls that dive on and put a bad review about something without giving no reference to the album whatsoever. Listen for yourself. if in doubt checkout some of the samples on the website before buying. i can assure you this is 100% Hed Kandi gold, that even the most discerning will treasure for years to come.

It's very easy to fall in to the trap of saying a label has had it's day or it's not as good as when so and so was in control but ultimately any compilation needs to be judged individually on it's own merits. For me this is a good comp. Lots of interesting tunes by artists and producers who for me still get the feet tapping. There's a reasonably laidback vibe with the odd tune upping the tempo from time to time but the thing I like best is that every track has a different pace, tinged with different styles - house,electro,latin,soul and elements of r&b. Yep, it's official... I like it.
