I have to say that this is one of the best Disco Kandi albums I've heard in a very long time. Not only is the choice of tracks solid and true to the genré but it's embracing the ever changing sound of House music. I defy anyone who likes House music to not like this album. Dare I say that the change at Kandi-Towers has been for the better? Here's a couple of CDs that seem to capture the new feeling in the Kandi camp, a little more of what the people who go to the parties want. Whether you play it before you go out on a Friday night or when you get home on a Sunday morning, this album has everything for you. CD 1 is perfectly balanced with great soulful, vocal and latin melodies that you just can't get out of your head and includes the massive Ian Carey remix of Soulsearcher's 'Feelin' Love'. CD 2 on the other hand is much more up for it with huge tracks such as, Axwell's 'Feel The Vibe' and an outstanding remix by the boys of the moment, Haji & Emanuel of Dajae's 'Brighter Days'. Serious thought has gone into selecting tracks for this album, it's exactly what you want a decent House music compilation to be. If this is a fresh start at Hed Kandi then they have done themselves proud and should keep up the good work and always keep it Kandi.

The standard of Hed Kandi compilations seems to be ever more rapidly increasing; does the one you're currently looking at match up to the others stacked up by your CD player? Yes! CD1 contains some top notch tunes - remixed classic such as Soulseacher - Feelin' Love and a soulful house mix of Para Beats - You Got Me are all quality. Others include Bobby Blanco & Miki Moto, James Nate, Grant Nelson, Ian Carey and Hanna Hais. CD2 goes all electronic but literally EVERY song on this CD are all dancefloor - regardless of some people who might say that they're may be one or two older songs on here (they're only about 3/3.5 months old anyway) but as they're so good, it doesn't matter! If you like you house funky, with electronic sounds and a bit of jazzy style in the middle, you'll love every song on it - thoroughly recommended.

Read a few negative things about this "new era" Hed Kandi set but I was really surprised at the fierce back to basics house style that we have here. Stand out for me is Joey Negro (worth buying the album just for this track on its own) but other tracks are equally as good - not impressed with the cover (looks very tacky, bring back original artist) otherwise first class Hed Kandi and a real breath of fresh disco flair!

Wow,
What can I say, the person who wrote a pervious review on this fantastic cd needs to lighten up (a hell of a lot)! What you have here is a fantastic selection of upto date bombs and lost classics such as rockers revenge. I have been an avid fan of the hed kandi cd's for many years and I really can't fault this, it is the perfect parther to ease your stress on the drive home or indeed a great way to seamlessly ease you into your weekends antics!
I notice the artwork is slightly different to my other cd's and I love it! The old artwork was looking a bit samey and in my humble opinion hed kandi has moved with the times, A star!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well, the first unmixed Kandi compilation after Mark Doyle's departure was always going to be tough...
At first glance, Disco Kandi 05.05 has lost pretty much all of the quirks that made Hed Kandi so unique. Gone is the sexy girl on a beautiful background, replaced with a barely amateur and totally lifeless graphic. I have no idea what's going on in the background, but it's boring, and the paisley pattern looks very dodgy. The sleeve notes make it look like the design changes were deliberate, but we all know they were forced on them. Not their fault, but they could at least be honest.
The tracklisting on the reverse is simple, which is not necessarily bad, but there is a lot of white space. Also, the huge "53" (to indicate the 53rd CD on the label) is a worrying indication that Kandi are more interested in quantity than quality.
I wouldn't say that every track is bad, but if you have any of this year's Kandi CDs you might as well not bother with this, because the only good tracks have appeared elsewhere. I've had the CD on in the background for a while and it feels like every track has been going on for far longer than it has. Nothing truly stands out.

I don't know what's going on in Kandi-land at the moment but I don't like it. It seems like the love is gone and just like MoS, Hed Kandi, without Mark Doyle, has jumped on the commercial bandwagon.
I have to agree that cover art does seem a bit dodgy and looks a bit one dimensional compared to Jason Brooks' touch of class. But as with all Kandi albums, I'm more concerned about the music than the artwork.
Kicking off, we have the now tired anthem, 'In The Night' by Who Da Funk which featured on last year's Winter Mix, Es Vive/Base Bar 2005 and now Disco Kandi. What's that all about? Then come some average tunes from Mirabeau, Nate James, Bobby Blanco and Hi Fashion. The only standout tracks for me, come from Copyright (never fail to impress me) and the Ian Pooley remix of Soulsearcher's 'Feelin' Love'.
Disc two is slightly harder sounding with some good electro influences in the tracks, but again you have to listen to the now tried-and-tested anthems from Axwell, Freemasons, Rockers Revenge and Deux (check your spellings Kandi!). But on the plus side there are some great gems from Chanel, C-Mos, Haji & Emanuel and Joey Negro.
In my opinion, I didn't find that the album excites the senses like my favourite Disco Kandi cd, "Disco Kandi 5". That's the quality Team Kandi should be matching, if not surpassing! I found myself flicking through tracks which I've done rarely on a Disco Kandi cd and that's not good.
If you're looking for an alternative try the new brand from Mark Doyle! 'Tokyo Project: The Collection' is Mark's new mix cd with all the style and sophisticated track selection you have come to expect from the man himself.
I think it's time to jump ship and join Mark on his new venture. Don't you...?
