Product Description

About the Author

Mairi Hedderwick was born in Gourock, Scotland. As a student she took a job as a mother's help on the Isle of Coll in the Hebrides, beginning a life-long love affair with islands and their small communities. Her children were brought up there and now some of her grandchildren. Mairi's island world is delightfully reflected in the imaginary island of Struay where her perennially popular Katie Morag stories are set. As well as creating children's books Mairi writes and illustrates travel books for adults. She also illustrated the acclaimed Janet Reachfar books, which are published by Birlinn. She continues to live on Coll.

Useful compact diary interspersed by the authors beautiful illustrations , I stayed on Coll with a friend as a teenager ( a long time ago ! ) and met Mairi , infact as we were going back on the ferry we were entrusted with some of her paintings to deliver to the framer in Oban - her sketches show the islands and their humour in a very true light and its cheering to open your diary and have a sketch make you smile as you write down boring meetings etc. Having the months and days in the gaelic is a nice touch too .

Excellent diary. - sturdy, with plenty of space for all appointments etc. But real attraction is that each week reveals new and charming illustrations by Mairi Hedderwick ( creator/ illustrator of Katie Morag). I also buy several copies of. this item for friends and family members. Always greatly appreciated.

My husband and I bought one of these each and we love the little illustrations, particularly as we love Scotalnd so much!! They are a bit bigger than I thought but I never got round to checking the measurements and they still fit into a small bag. Lovely quality and would definitely buy again.

Third Hebridean Diary we have had. It is a delightful diary with great illustrations on each weeks pages, plenty of 'note' pages and a wipe clean hard cover. If you have visited this part of Scotland this will remind you of all the beautiful Islands. Highly recommended.
