Product Description

Born on New Year's Eve, Jenni had her whole life in front of her and the upcoming new year seemed to have nothing but joy and promise in store. It was to be a year of firsts: her first foods, her first tooth, her first words, her first steps, her first Christmas, her first birthday. Yet not one of these important milestones would be reached as the world of one mother would suddenly change forever when this beautiful gift from heaven had to be returned just 87 days after her arrival. In this book her mother recounts the events of her birth and those of her death due to SIDS. She takes you on a poetic journey towards self-discovery on the road to her own recovery.

About the Author

Christine lives in Slidell, Louisiana where she is currently raising her son, Steven, who is thirteen years old. In December of 2000 she gave birth to a second child, a happy healthy little girl named Jenni. Just less than three months later Jenni passed away suddenly in her sleep due to SIDS.Over the last couple of years, since her loss, Christine has written numerous poems to describe her pain and her ongoing recovery. With the encouragement of friends and family she has decided to make these poems public with the hope that they will bring the same healing power to others who find themselves in similar circumstances.

Buy this book with a box of Kleenex 5 Sep 2003
By Karen - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
I found this book to be full of emotion and a mother's love for her daughter. Maybe not all poems have to rhyme, but that's only a matter of preference/taste. I personally do not care for "free writing" in poetry. I found that the poems spoke clearly to my heart and of the grief and sense of loss that comes with the loss of a child. I cried. I smiled. And I felt that the author's words clearly expressed the anguish of her loss... and the hope for recovery. I will treasure the book and I would highly recommend it to others who have suffered the loss of a child or knows someone who has.

Beautiful words spoken from the heart 18 July 2003
By A Customer - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
I heard about this book when a friend mentioned it to me. I had already read a couple of books about SIDS and infant death, etc but my friend thought that I might get a little something more out of this one. She was absolutely right! I didn't need all of the mumbo jumbo and technical terms and how to's, I just needed a book that would help me feel and I needed to hear something that I could relate to - my grief. This book does the trick. It is a beautiful tribute to a beautiful baby girl. Her mother's words are spoken straight from the heart - full of emotion and love - and they spoke straight to mine. I have since recommended it to other members of my support group. As stated in her poem Don't Let The Tears Confuse You... "Don't Let The Tears Confuse You. They are never shed in vain. Some wounds will never heal. But the tears release their pain." Get this book and a box of tissues. You will cry, but you will find comfort in the tears and in the knowledge that someone else could express so clearly the grief and the pain of losing a child.

I loved this book. It is touching and real. I think it would help anyone healing from the death of a child.
