"Add this tasty bonbon to the growing shelf of culinary mysteries." (Booklist)

"This new series has some of the hallmarks of author Kerry Greenwood's other long running series – the Phryne Fisher mysteries: mystery (of course), good food, gorgeous young men and a sassy central female character...a delicious offering." Corinna Chapman, baker, is enjoying life with the handsome Daniel. Her bakery is doing well as is her apprentice, former junkie, Jason who makes muffins to die for. Corinna is just enjoying some chocolates bought from Heavenly Pleasures, a nearby chocolate shop run by her friends, Juliette and Vivienne, when she bites into one filled with chilli sauce. It seems someone is trying to sabotage Heavenly Pleasures' business. Daniel is asked to look into it in his capacity as a private detective.

As well as the chocolate problem a mysterious recluse has moved into one of the apartments in Insula - the eccentric apartment block in which Corinna lives and works and he seems to be attracting some very unpleasant people to the area. Can Corinna and Daniel between them solve the various mysteries without putting themselves or anyone else in danger?

I enjoyed this fast paced, well written mystery set in Melbourne. Corinna as an interesting character and her neighbours are eccentric but likeable. There are many touches of humour in amongst the serious subjects of feeding the homeless, dealing with alcoholism and drug addiction and forced marriage. If you enjoy this author's other series featuring Phryne Fisher then give Corinna Chapman a try.

Corinna just keeps getting better and better. The mystery this time features dirty doings at a chocolate shop, the kind where if you have to ask the prices you should not be in there. I was salivating just reading about it. Then there is the recovering drug addict Jason and his addictive muffins. I am actually trying out the recipes...and they work. Hooray. Have to confess I too am a super size female like Corinna...but where is my gorgeous ex Israeli soldier turned detective, the sexy Daniel...ah, well, at least I can keep on reading about him and enjoy some vicarious pleasure. Yum yum!

As usual, with Kerry Greenwood's writing, warmth and well-being pervade all the scenes. Nasty things happen, but the good(?) guys win in the end. All is right with the world. Comforting.

I was hooked on Phryne Fisher and didn't know how Kerry Greenwood could follow that act. I like Corinna Chapman and her assortment of co-residents at the Insula just as much. It's a good summer read which entertains. Plus the recipes are good once you've finished.

I loved Miss Fisher mysteries and love Corinna even more (just). Obviously the writer has cats - no one could make up the cat comments otherwise and it really makes me laugh. All the characters are interesting and the writing style makes me feel I know them.
