4.0 out of 5 stars beautiful book of beautiful bags, 29 April 2006
By Kate (england) - See all my reviews
This is a lovely book beautifully illustrated with colour photographs and clear charts and diagrams. Slightly misrepresented I felt though, as well over half the bags are mainly tapestry or canvaswork. The front cover shows a fabric patchwork bag and I was expecting more of a sewing book than a tapestry book. There are 2 knitted bags, a lovely beaded purse,a cross stitch bridal set and 3 or 4 that are mainly fabric with embellishments, but the rest are all predominantly canvaswork. Having said that I am not disappointed as the canvas work is excellent with imaginative use of specialist needlework threads as well as wool. I particularly like a tote bag with a farmyard picture using textured stitches and a tapestry bag with animal skin patterns. There are some unusual bag shapes as well like a denim mobile phone bag with a beaded rose and his and hers tooth fairy bags. All in all although it wasn't really what I bought it for, I was pleasantly surprised. I need to find a good patchwork bag book now!

4.0 out of 5 stars Heavenly book of bags, 21 May 2006
By L. Nudd (Shropshire, England.) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
This is a super book, guaranteed to get your fingers itching to stitch. I immediately ordered canvas and threads for 4 of the projects! Beautiful colour photos throughout, though I have found one or two of the charts a little poor, especially the ones for the lilac and pearl amulet. All threads and fabrics for the needlework projects are readily available from suppliers listed or your own favourite suppliers on the internet. A book I would recommend to any stitcher.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good but not quite 5 stars..., 1 May 2006
By Jan S. (Yorkshire, UK) - See all my reviews
This is an excellent and very inspiring book with a selection of interesting projects ranging from the quick and easy (a few fabric bag projects) to the detailed and exquisite (beautiful canvaswork amulets and purses).

The only reason I can't give this book 5 stars is because the threads and beads involved in some of the projects, I have found difficult to source. The experienced needleworker will know of substitutes and where to find them but for those people, like me, who have little time to research alternatives and just like to order materials over the internet or from a local shop, it is a single disappointment from what is a very interesting book.
