Book Description

Nominee of the 2007 Parsec Award for Best Novella, from the 2013 John W. Campbell Award Winner.

"Lafferty is a funny writer, with a clear obsession for afterlife mythos and an admirable hand at drawing likable characters... one of the most promising writers... It's great to see her turning out such good work already!"

What if you died and went to Heaven and it wasn't all that? What if it was flat-out boring?

Would you leave?

After their deaths, best friends Kate and Daniel learn that Heaven is not their cup of tea, so to speak. Roads connect the afterlives of all religions, including those from other times and even other species.

But turmoil keeps churning back on Earth, and Kate and Daniel discover secrets between themselves, and secrets about the world they left, and they begin to wonder if their "aimless" wandering is part of a much bigger design.

Heaven is the first book in the epic Afterlife Series that began as a wildly popular free podcast. It is followed by Hell, Earth, Wasteland, and War.

**Praise for Heaven: **

"Full of surprises and pointed observations about human behaviour, Heaven is a terrific debut." ~Minister Faust, author of From The Notebook of Dr. Brain and The Alchemists of Kush

2.0 out of 5 stars OK ish 24 May 2014
By Robert

There seems to be a fashion for heaven/afterlife books this past year. Tad Williams, Dirty Streets of Heaven being one. The simply titled 'Heaven' is the latest. The plot is simple. Girl and boyfriend die in car crash. Go to Heaven. Start exploring Heaven. The book is simply an exploration novel. Nothing wrong with that. Soime of the best novels ever have been travalogues. think Ringworld or Lord of the Rings. However I did not find myself getting interested and my mind started to drift. I cannot say exactly what it was. the writing style was much better than many others at this price on Amazon. It just did not do it for me.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best 77p I've Ever Spent 9 Feb. 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I am a subscriber of Mur Laffety's pod cast, and remembered her talking about this on one of her shows. Then I checked it out, downloaded the sample and thought, "this could go into some pretty interesting stuff".

So I eventually bought it weeks later (as I am a creative writer myself, I do tend to get caught up doing my own stuff a lot.)
But I have just finished this today and am wonderfully surprised in more than one way.

I love the whole exploration of the mythologies in the afterlife. The relationship going between Kate and Daniel was interesting, and I loved the depth Laffety gave to the whole Heavenly life being a ***. There is so much to talk about, but I would rather download the next book and continue reading.

So here's to the next part, Laffety!

If you're interested in checking out my work, here is a link. I would really appreciate it if you did. They are free at the minute: [...]

3.0 out of 5 stars struggled with part two, but i will continue. 15 Nov. 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I loved the beginning of this book, whipping through it at a rate of knots, as i do when i am enjoying a book. Then came part two where the viewpoint is changed. From then on i struggled.
I think that maybe for me, the characters were forced on me far to quickly. and it seemed like there were loads of them. so i had no time to get to know a character before i was moving on. (this may be just me, and the way i read) I am not going to let this put me off though as i intend to read the next instalment, as i like the series idea..
