Book Description

4 Jun 2007 Casteel Family 1

From the bestselling author of ‘Flowers in the Attic’ comes the first book in the series centred around the Casteel family and its dark and mysterious past.

Repackaged to attract a new generation of Andrews’ fans

HER NAME WAS HEAVEN, HER LIFE WAS ANYTHING BUT

Heaven’s mother Angel had died in childbirth, and from that moment her father turned against her. Her only allies, it seemed, were her four half-brothers and sisters.

When their father, poor and desperate, sold them to strangers, Heaven was left alone and friendless. Her only hope was to reunite her family. But how?

So begins the heartbreaking, magical story of the Casteel family, continued in ‘Dark Angel’, ‘Fallen Hearts’, ‘Gates of Paradise’ and ‘Web of Dreams’.

Review

Praise for Viginia Andrews:

‘Beautifully written, macabre and thoroughly nasty… it is evocative of the nasty fairy tales like Little Red Riding Hood and The Babes in the Wood, with a bit of Victorian Gothic thrown in. … What does shine through is her ability to see the world through a child’s eyes’ Daily Express

‘Makes horror irresistible’ Glasgow Sunday Mail

‘A gruesome saga… the storyline is compelling, many millions have no wish to put this down’ Ms London

‘There is strength in her books – the bizarre plots matched with the pathos of the entrapped’ The Times

5.0 out of 5 stars powerful 4 Nov 2008
Format:Paperback
i was about 15 when i first read this book - i read it through the night and finished it at 7am - i had a hour sleep before i had to get up for school. this book had a massive impact on me at that age. to this day nearly ten years on, i have never found another author whose writings have had such an impact on me. and i have read hundreds if not over a thousand novels over the years. this book, as well as flowers in the attic, were the books that gave me the thirst for reading. i'm just sorry that andrews is dead beacuse the company that now writes under her name has never written anying that can even compare to the real andrews works. this book is a gem - i would however suggest that when you buy it - you must also purchase the following 4 in the series because once you have finished this - you will not be able to wait a couple of days for the next! can anyone reccomend to me a book that is a good as this - i would love to read it.

Format:Paperback
I thouroughly enjoyed Heaven and once I had begun reading it I could not put it down. It didn't take long for me to become totally absorbed into Heaven's unbelievable and tragic life, wondering what she would do next. I cant wait to read the next book in the saga, though was a bit dissapointed by the ending.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great!!!!! 30 Mar 2005

Format:Paperback
Heaven is the first story of the Casteel-Tatterton saga, in which Heaven Leigh Casteel is the young girl trying to keep herself and her siblings alive and together. If readers have already read the prequel to this series then they know of the unforunate events that came upon Heaven's young mother Leigh. The story begins with Heaven hearing of her true heritage from her grandmother on the eve of her tenth birthday next to a grave in the Willies. Heaven is amazed to know that she came, not from the mother she has always known, but from a wealthy bostonian girl(whom the grave belongs to). After hearing the news Heaven is astounded but she still has that gnawing feeling in her stomach wishing for the love of her father who has always hated her for reasons unbeknown to her. Later on in the book Heaven is sold to strangers for $500 and made to be a cook, cleaner and punchbag to Kitty Dennison. Heaven's only saviour is her step-father Cal who later takes advantage of her vulnerability and once again heaven feels betrayed by the person she loved. This book is truley awe-inspiring and I'd give it 10 out of 10 every time! It is a must read!!
