This has to be my favorite book of all time. It has been read so many times that I am afraid the binding is going to fall to pieces!
The author has created incredible characters in an story that you will not be able to put down, short of a natural disaster. And even then you might cling to the book as the tidal wave whisks you away!
Prudence is an intelligent young woman, who lives with a ever-marrying aunt but spends most of the time reading in the library. When rescuing her kitten from a severe storm she meets an injured highway man whom she helps to safety.
From the very beginning the sparks fly between Prudence and her highwayman, although both know they will likely never see each other again. Prudence would never betray Sebastion and everything she does she truly feels is for the best for him.

Prudence Walker's life will never be the same after she meets a masked highwayman one dark and stormy night on a lonely road. Prudence Walker's life will never be the same after she meets Sebastian Kerr, her aunt's fiance'. Once she realizes the highwayman and her aunt's fiance' are one and the same, the real adventure begins, and love weaves it's magical web around the two of them. This book launched me into the world of historical romance.

This novel was written with more skill than the average romantic novel. There is also a proper cohesive plot, and the novelist has taken note of the history of the period and used it to strengthen the story not to detract from it. (Johanna Lindsay take note). Prudence is a delightful intelligent heroine, and Sebastian the type of caring male it is all too difficult to find in real life. The minor characters, especially Jamie and Fish are great fun and worthy of their place in this novel.
