The story has been well covered elsewhere, so I'll just comment on the production values of this movie.
I'm something of a fan of low budget films, which can lead you to watch quite alot of rubbish. Heathen, however, is absolutely at the opposite end of the scale and involves you so completely, you don't even stop to consider how much it might have cost to make. Director Ross Shepherd has clearly thought long and hard about what can be done on an absolute minimal budget, and embrased these factors rather that fought them, squeezing every drop of atmosphere from the story.
Shepherd clearly knows where to put a camera and how to make it work. The film looks fantastic and absolutely drips with a shadowy, moody feel. Other indie film 'killers' have also been expertly avoided, such as an incredibly clear and professional sounding audio track and some frankly outstanding acting (by Rudd in particular).
I was fortunate enough to see a preview of this movie and am totally in for purchasing this DVD, I wholeheartedly recommend YOU do the same.
