I really thought I couldn't go wrong with this - Geoff and John - icons!!!
WRONG! This just does not work for me. It's lumpy, hesitant and uncomfortable.
A live set of material ranging from Icon (obviously), Yes, King Crimson, Buggles and UK.
For such fine and notable musicians to let this out, is - disappointing.
With the added talents of Dave Kilminster on guitar and Peter Riley on drums I was sure that I was in for something much better.
Recorded at some Japanese concerts during early 2009, the overall ambience and recording quality is - for guys of this calibre - poor.
I don't want to wear the word out, but I REALLY am disappointed! I suppose when your expectations are high you believe you're in for something special. Well, my expectations were crashed. This is at best - a novel bootleg!
John and Geoff - why?? You are worth SO much more!
I'll now look forward to the new Asia "XXX", which does appear VERY promising.

I enjoyed this. Big fan of both Wetton and Downes.

Not the Best Wetton/Downes Work 23 Aug. 2012
By M. Twomey - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD Verified Purchase
I have all of Asia's, John Wetton and Icon's recordings and this is by far the poorest quality performance of them all. It is just not what I expected based on prior releases. I realize they are not in the recording studio and they are in a small venue, but the quality just isn't there. The backing vocals are very poor quality. With all the talented musicians they have worked with how could not pick up a guitar/backing vocals or drummer/backing vocals performer to assist with this short tour.

The fact that Track 2 is not "Let Me Go" from the first Icon CD, but "Go" from Astra should have been the first indication that this CD was subpar.

If you are looking for the best music form the Wetton/Downes duo I would go with Icon II Rubicon. Also, John Wetton's Battle Lines or his Chasing the Dragon Live perfomance are other good options.

A little rough 9 May 2012
By P. J. Duffy - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD
The exciting thing about this set list is that there is a good mix of songs from pretty much all the important areas of JW's career; KC, Asia, Icon, UK and of course, solo selections. The sound quality is passable for what is more or less a bootleg but my issues are with the performance elements. First off I am a huge fan of both JW and GD and have seen them many times so it is a little painful to criticize them but I wouldn't be an honest reviewer if I didn't. Here's my take on some of the tracks
Highlights;
Countdown to Zero (nice arrangement)
Nightwatch (always a great tune)
Come to take you home

Not so good;
Rubicon (painful)
Die is Cast (tough harmony and response vocals)
My own time (either change the key or don't do this one. This was hard to sing 30 years ago)
Days like these (some performance issues with the chords going on here)

That's my 2 cents. It's definitely a cool set list and if you are like me (you have to have everything Wetton related, for better or worse) then it's worth a listen or two, however there many of the songs are tough to get through.

Excellent recording quality. Great mix of tracks from Wetton's and Downe's careers, as well as from their Icon albums. Note that Track 2 on Disc 1 is not "Let Me Go" from "Icon" (2005), but is "Go" from Asia's "Astra" (1985).
