5.0 out of 5 stars A True Classic 22 July 2014
By J. Tan
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
I am very proud to say I have been a Carcass Fan from day one. I spent hours and hours listening to their first few Albums, but when Heartwork was released...I was even prouder and so dam blown away. I will put it right out there this is a must have Album...there is something on this Album for every Metalhead on the Planet. I could go on and on but really if you read the comments from other listener's I stand by what they have said but in summing up...this has to be heard to be believed.
I have many Albums from many Artist's but if I was to only be allowed to listen to one Album this would be it...it's that dam good...

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent reissue for an excellent album 20 Jun 2008
By Paul McNamee TOP 500 REVIEWER VINE VOICE
Format:Audio CD
As far as I'm aware, Heartwork has been out of print for years. Coinciding with Carcass' summer reunion shows, Earache is re-releasing their albums in Dualdisc format with brand new interview footage. While Earache Records are notorious for their douple-dipping incessant re-releases (At The Gates' Slaughter Of The Soul has been released FIVE TIMES!), the new footage present here lends a feel of worthiness to the proceedings. Plus, its nice that the albums are readily available in HMV again for under a tenner.

I'm sure you can get a review of Heartwork elsewhere. I'll leave it short by saying it's probably the band's best album, miles ahead of its predecessor Necroticism and heading straight in the direction of the unfairly criticised Swansong.

My praise goes to the quality of these re-releases. The DVD side of the disc comes with the 4th part of an extensive, album specific series of interviews covering everything from a return to the rehearsal rooms to Jeff Walker's dissatisfaction with Bill Steer not doing vocals on the album. The full chapter listing's not on Amazon so I'll present it here;

01. Lyrical Inspiration + Themes
02. Parr Street Studios
03. Colin Richardson As Producer
04. HR Giger
05. Were Your Hearts Still Into The Work?
06. Touring The Album
07. Veggies And Vegans
08. The Importance Of Mike
09. Mike's Departure
10. Arbeit Macht Fleisch

In addition to this, the album comes with a bonus CD featuring the full record recorded in demo format-interesting for the curious and a little pointless, but nothing to take points away for.

All this comes in a massive digipak with full lyrics, photography and artwork. In short, the album has gotten the treatment it deserves at long last.

5.0 out of 5 stars Blueprint for melodic death metal 4 Dec 2009
By Pj H
Format:Audio CD
One of the best Melodic death metal albums of all time. I remember watching Heartwork on Noisy Mothers on ITV when I was a young and impressionable teenager and it blew me away. I am still listening to this album around 16 years later. This extra demos on this reissue give a nice raw perspective staying true to the old grindcore model .. but you cant beat the album mix. I'll still be listening in 2025 for sure.
