5.0 out of 5 stars Melodic metal at it's best! 27 Nov 2004
Format:Audio CD
Thrashing melodic death metal the way only Carcass knows how. Carcass is on of the most respected band in the genre and this album might just be their best. Heartwork is a masterpice and should be a part of any serious head-banger's collection, period.

5.0 out of 5 stars Heartwork is a god's work! 14 Nov 2011
Format:Audio CD
What can I say of Carcass, a band that changed their style in every album and yet remains one of the most important and adored groups in the history of metal?
Well, there's a lot to say, but all my words will be directed to Heartwork now.
Although Gothenburg scene is claimed to have invented Melodic Death Metal, every Carcass fan knows that Heartwork is the genre's true origin.
Heavy and brutal song structures, beautiful twin-guitar melodies (which sound close to Thin Lizzy's), fast riffs, harsh vocals, melodic guitar solos and powerful blast-beats. All of this perfectly defines Melodic Death Metal, as made in a flawless way by Carcass in Heartwork.
Surely one of the greatest albums of all time, not only of Metal. You can't die without hearing this album first! A must-have!

5.0 out of 5 stars Death metal at it's finest 9 Jun 2014
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
Stunning, high quality heavy metal. A must have for any death metal fan. Fluid melody lines and chugging riffery make this one of the best heavy metal albums ever released

4.0 out of 5 stars More Progression From The Gods Of Grind. 3 Oct 2011
Format:Audio CD
The fourth full length record from Carcass showed another progression from the ever evolving death metal merchants.
One which alienated a lot of the hardcore fanbase but hopefully introduced more people to the carcoffiny.

Heartwork is a clinical, shiny and heavy slab of chunky metal tunery with some of the tracks almost taking on a dare I say "pop metal" edge. No bad thing as far as Im concerned with Carcass and they would take this further on their next and last release "Swansong." But here on "Heartwork" we have great metal songs like "Arbeit Macht Fleisch" "No Love Lost" "Buried Dreams" and the title track plus a host of other chuggin tunes which just beg me to bang head and foot. I also think that on this album the guitar solos from Steer and Amott are at times just so tasty and well written they stick in my head for days....and thats just guitar solos!!!!

Do yourselves a favour and dont be put off by any "Carcass go commercial" nonsense. This is just a great metal album. nuff said!

5.0 out of 5 stars British Death Metal At It's Best! 8 Dec 2007
Format:Audio CD
WOW! I heard the title track heartwork accidently and i got a huge tingle and shiver down my back! Quite simply without Carcss and At the gates, metal would be less rich! Amazing melodic metal that will blow you away!!
