Answering her mental plea, Commander Hunter mobilizes his best warriors to defend the women from indigenous creatures bent on having them for lunch, but finds that he wants to sample small, curvy Ri himself, but in a much different fashion. Once his brother Jace sets eyes on Arianna, the men set out to woo the shy Arianna into their life and their beds. There are worse fates than being adored by two or more sexy Thorsani warriors; for instance, Arianna could still be languishing on Earth, devastated by grief and pain. Has she found the cure for a heart shattered one too many times?

Follow the amazing journey of Arianna and her companions as they grasp onto a second chance at life in a much different culture in the Hearts of Ishira series.

Utterly AMAZING!! This story is wonderful. What comes is a journey for all as they discover true love and bloodshed as one conspire's against them. The descriptions and detail of RI's experience through this new and amazing world are brilliant. I heartily recommend this book, it is a hot, romantic and passionate read. Imaginative detail consistently used all the way through. Characters have great chemistry and believability. This is such a well written book the details of this strange world are so well done it is easy to visualise the surroundings and the people, the characters are so well drawn and detailed. I could not put this down and was sorry that it had to end. I cannot wait for the sequel.
Amazing story I enjoyed every word of it!! Would recommend to anyone into sci fi and romance.

Hearts of Ishira by Bethany Aan
Arianna awoke to excruciating pain and screams somewhere nearby. When she opened her eyes, she saw a forest unlike any she'd even. Strange insects and flying creatures roamed the land. Then, from the shadows, other living things emerged - animals unlike anything Ri could have dreamed in her wildest fantasy. She had no idea where she was.
She looked around and saw a corpse with a broken neck nearby. The creatures were almost in feeding frenzy over the woman's dead body. Ri noticed other women scattered around in the foreign landscape. All were naked, as was Ri. Ri was fighting pain; she had a severely broken leg an broken ribs. She sent a mental cry for help and received a mental reply from a life form nearby.
At last, Thorsani warriors arrived to help the band or women. While the men looked humanoid, they were very tall, with markings on the edges of their faces spreading into their hairlines. Ri caught just a glimpse of the bright green eyes of her savior before she passed out at his feet from her injuries. The men busied themselves getting communicators on the women. There had been no females for their group for more than ten years. They examined the injured group of female creatures with interest as medics went to work attempting to heal the broken and injured.
Bethany Aan created aliens that were kind, sexy, and appealing. I was impressed with the level of culture-building she was able to sprinkle into the novel. She introduced the world of Ishira only a small bit at this juncture, but did so beautifully and with great detail and wonderful explanation as to every area explored.
Her interpretation and knitting of the Thorsani culture into the fabric of the world of Ishira was extraordinary. I have never before envied a non-existent culture. The Thorsani had beautiful beliefs and a wondrously structured and respectful treatment of women and children. Aan clearly put a great deal of thought into the creation of this world.
Additionally, the respectful handling of various world marital customs was astounding.
This was a very erotic novel, so for those not interested in reading about m/m/f ménages, this may not be for you. The sex scenes were passionate and exquisite, written with the reader's pleasure in mind.
I will be anxiously awaiting the next book in this series.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of my favorites this year 30 Jun 2013

Brief Summary: Hearts of Ishira starts off just the way I think a novel should begin. It begins with a mystery. Arianna awakens in a strange forest with no memory of how she arrived. She soon sees other women who are similarly injured and with no memory. Through a special power that Ri possesses she is able to feel the other inhabitants of the plant and knows that they only wish to help the women. Through advanced technology and the charming [ ;) ] nature of the Thorsani men the women must adjust to their new home and figure out how and why they are there.

My Review: I absolutely loved Hearts of Ishira so much in fact that I have already semi-stalked/admired the author on her blog and Facebook. This novel has everything I love: romance, science fiction/fantasy, and a mystery. Ri has become possibly my favorite heroine of all time because she is determined and strong enough to want to contribute and be productive in her new society despite her various injuries while still being feminine and warm enough to welcome the love of not one but two men. The planet of Ishira is so well described that I felt like I could accurately see everything that the characters saw. The opening scene reminded me a little of Lord of the Flies where one person takes control (Ri) and someone tries to take over. In this analogy one girl, Amy, can only be connected to Roger. Not even Jack, but Roger. The hatred and complete insanity that is Amy increased the action and mystery of the novel for me because she is so determined to bring Ri down. Some things that might be a caution or deterrent for some people is the women to men ratio and the custom of the Thorsani that results in menage and the catlike qualities of the men.

My Rating: Hearts of Ishira is definitely on my top five books of the year, possibly top ten ever. I give Hearts of Ishira a (5/5) only because my rating system prevents me from giving it a higher score.

I received this novel through LoP on Goodreads.com

5.0 out of 5 stars Hearts of Ishira Book 1 18 May 2014
By Donna A. Matzas - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I find this book hard to put down as I enjoyed the writing of Bethany Aan. She is an excellent writer who put a lot of effort to create this book. The characters of the story, the finite details of the botany on a unfamiliar planet, the attention to survival and living in harmony with sentient beings, the importance of communications between two different races from two different worlds stranded on Ishira, the acceptance and adopting the belief systems of both worlds together in agreement, the medical expertise to familiar themselves with the physiology of the earth human bodies to help them adapt to the new environment and with their Thorani race and the blending of gifted telepathic communications between one female human leader and the Thorani leader are many of her writing skills that she placed within this book. The story plot makes me ponder about the world that we live in, living in unfamiliar territories, improve the quality of new life, and be in harmony to respect all belief systems therein. Excellent Book to read....quite enlightening and enjoyable to read.

5.0 out of 5 stars Hearts of Ishira by Bethany Aan 10 Mar 2013
By TeenBlurb - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition
Hearts of Ishira is a witty, erotic, and fantastic fantasy novel that will get your pulse racing and breath catching. Bethany Aan has written a story with characters that are strong and immediately grab your attention. From page one you are enthralled and thrown right into the heart of a story that will make you forget what you know and marvel at what joy life can bring you when you learn to live for yourself and not the conventions of others.

Ri is a heroine with a healthy sense of humor, a whopping dose of insecurity, and an abundance of curves. Being faced with two very attractive men that find her very beautiful and alluring, Ri is very flattered and flustered at the same time. Earth conventions and society no longer exist for her and her young charges, and being a nurturer, Ri has been put in a leader position over her unlikely herd. With no way of returning to Earth Ri and the girls will have to learn to adapt to their new environment. How hard could it be to belong to not one gorgeous man, but two or even three?

Hearts of Ishira will capture your heart, your laughter, your tears, and your loyalty.

I recieved a complimentary copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.

5.0 out of 5 stars Bold, Sassy, and Imaginative Prose with Saucy Spice 24 Feb 2013
By Susan Ricci - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition
"Two other medics were following behind Hunter, making sure her scratches and wounds were clean before slathering them with salves and bandaging them. Four incredibly handsome, well-built men around her naked body. If she hadn't been so weak, she might have indulged in a bit of naughty fantasy."

Okay, I'm already fanning my face with the physical imagery, but let's take it one step further: Imagine you can call to another being within the boundaries of your mind, but instead of the human beings you are used to, a gentle alien being responds to your pleas for help? One who can restore your energy with his own brand of mental powers and delicate touch, even as you wish you had the power to refuse but to whom you feel no threat? What if this is because you crashlanded on a planet far away from the Earth's Solar System, only to be rescued by sexy, cat-like alien males wishing only to see to you and your companions healing and comfort?

Welcome to the planet, Ishira, where Bethany Aan's erotic/science fiction tale takes place.

Hearts of Ishira is unlike any book I've ever read before and wow, am I glad I ventured into this previous unknown arena with Hearts. Bethany Aan combines the bold, the sassy, and the erotic with a science fiction twist most impressively and I applaud the workings of her oh-so-talented creative abilities. As a reader of many different genres, this is one I'm glad I decided to try. Further, I'm glad my maiden voyage into this genre was reading Hearts of Ishira.

Not to be redundant, but I intentionally titled my review, "Bold, sassy, and imaginative prose with saucy spice", because this is exactly what I found the heart of Hearts of Ishira to be. My only peeve was the tale ended, (as all good stories certainly should), with a cliffhanger intended to prompt the reader to impatiently wait for Book 2. It was almost like having a ton of foreplay, only to be left in the lurch without the climax, so to speak. ;)

So, my reader friends, since I never read and tell because I don't believe in plot/story spoilers, read the blurb, look at the results of Bethany Aan's previous reviews, and go with your gut--or your 'heart', if you will. I, for one, cannot wait for Book 2 in this series!
