Book Description

Mark isn’t sure he believes in love, especially when he finds himself torn between two very different men: his reliable boyfriend, Craig, and his illicit lover and priest, Richard.

Mark knows what he should do, but he can’t bring himself to give Richard up. The sex with Richard is unlike anything he’s ever known with Craig, and he hungers for it as much as—if not more than—the truer intimacy he finds in his boyfriend’s arms.

When Craig discovers his betrayal, Mark is forced to look at his life more closely, but the path to self-knowledge is never an easy one. Richard seeks the way back to God, but Mark finds no solace there. Can he ever discover the truth of his own soul, or is he too afraid of what he will—or won’t—find inside his heart?

"Every single character here is unique. I couldn't stop thinking while reading this story that each and every one of them pulses with life." (MM Good Book Reviews on Maloney's Law)

"a flawlessly written, beautiful yet haunting story, at times gritty, dark and intense" (Queer Magazine Online on A Dangerous Man)

"an exceptionally well written and thrilling mystery novel. This novel grabbed a hold of me almost immediately and would not let go." (Romance Junkies Reviews on The Bones of Summer)

"a slow burning mystery woven into the ordinary lives of a close-knit group of friends. This is a great choice for readers who prefer to get to know characters well before the plot heats up. The payoff at the end is well worth the initial emotional investment." (Long and Short Reviews about Thorn in The Flesh)

"a great, laid back story with many twists to keep you laughing. The fast paced flow of the wacky story was undeniably fun. I say that if on a rainy day or just when you need to laugh in a 'The Birdcage' feel, this book is for you." (Dark Diva Reviews on Pink Champagne and Apple Juice)

5.0 out of 5 stars A story about strong passions... 22 Nov. 2012
By Aija - Published on
Format:Kindle Edition
A story about strong passions that consumes and overrules everything else in life. And when that's taken from you - you're left drifting.

I read this in one breath and not only because this is a short story, but 'cause it was so gripping and filled with dark passion, heavy thoughts and anguish about not being able to change a thing.. Such a perfect mix! I have rarely read a short story so well rounded and complete. :)

I cannot possibly do a just review for The Heart's Greater Silence, so I'll just stop with saying that I loved absolutely everything about this book - the stunningly beautiful cover, excellent editing and formatting and, of course, the story itself. Will definitely read this again!

5.0 out of 5 stars Emotional and Draining...Well worth the read 21 Mar. 2012
By Dominique Eastwick - Published on
Format:Kindle Edition
Small Spoiler Alert...

This was one of those books that I read the excerpt and had to read the whole book. I was warned by the author that the book was a bit grim. So I was thankful for that bit of information before embarking on the story. It's well written and emotionally draining. I recommend the book but if you are looking for HEA you should wait to read it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Have Faith That You Will Enjoy This Book 7 Feb. 2014
By Amazon Customer - Published on
Format:Kindle Edition
I won this short story from booklikes.

If you do not like graphic sexual descriptions this is not for you. I hate to say this about sex in books but I can take it or leave it. Anne, I think it would be correct to say, does a great job in describing sex and sex acts. But for the real bulk of the story, there is more to it.

It is so funny I just read a short story from her yesterday where the sex was hidden and not spoken about. And then today I read this where it is all out in the open.

But the real story here is about Mark. A man who has a boyfriend he loves, Craig. But he is sleeping with Richard. And Richard is a priest.

So what happens when, for the first time Richard comes over to Mark's house because Craig is supposed to be out for the evening, but Craig comes home early?

What happens to Mark and Richard?

Will Mark choose Craig over Richard? And will Richard choose God over Mark?

We find out about both men and their faith in God.

This was a very interesting story and if you are not looking closely it seems all about sex but it is not. At least that is how I see it.

If it had a good storyline, I would be able to get past the sex, I am not prude but everyone is different, and read another story like this especially from this author.

3.0 out of 5 stars More drama than erotica, but well-written 1 Dec. 2012

Like a lot of gay erotic short fiction, this one seems like it could be a longer book, a novel, even. There is much more character development than sex. But that's fine. The biggest problem I had was, I just didn't like the narrator. That's just me I guess. I wanted to read this from the perspective of the priest, who seemed to be a much more interesting character.
