The concept of this story involved heroine experiences a nasty divorce and learns to blossom from the effects of the divorce to fine true love. This story revolves around a cruise ship romance that blossoms to something deeper.
Maitlyn Boudreaux is recently divorced and trying to find recapture her sensuality and inner wild child. Solution, her father springs for an all-expense paid 10-cruise to get away from her problems. Once at the boarding docks, Matilyn meets Zak Sayed, an acquaintance of her brother and renowned high-stakes poker player. These two embark upon a no strings affair that leads to path of love and steamy romance. However, Zak realizes Maitlyn is the soul mate is has been seeking and must find a way to keep business from interfering with true happiness.
Hearts Afire was Mrs. Fletcher-Mello’s latest installment in the Boudreaux series. Mrs. Fletcher did a good job with character development where readers will emphasize with Maitlyn’s reluctance to embrace her inner wild child after a nasty divorce. Her self-confidence has been shattered and she feels she has failed at her marriage. Zak’s character development displayed his ability to recognize the instant attraction and fall quickly in love with Maitlyn. The author did a good job showing Zak’s ability to be a gentleman and his ruthlessness as a renowned poker player. He was also a strong alpha male that when threaten or those around him threaten, he would stop at nothing to rescue them.
The dialogue was in line with the story and remained engaging to the end.
The storyline flowed and made smooth transitions between scenes. The story centered around mystery on an exotic cruise and the various ports the lovers embarked were also in line with the structure of the story. The reader will see Maitlyn and Zak succumb to their romantic surroundings and find passion.
Hearts Afire told a story of a woman learning there is love after heartbreak and that it can occur anywhere. This story was well written and will keep the reader intrigued to find out the outcome of the poker game and whether Maitlyn and Zak’s love affair on the exotic seas turned to a permanent arrangement on American soil. An enjoyable read by Mrs. Fletcher-Mello.
