Heartmate (Magical Love) [Mass Market Paperback]

Rand T'Ash is a member of one of the Great Houses, very well endowed psychically (called Flair on Celta, where most of the population have some degree of talent). Tragically he has lost his family and all that he has now is his Fam, Zanth, a cat. Or something more than a cat - but a cat nevertheless (once you read it you will understand).

Danith Mallow is also alone, living an ordinary life, until one day she walks into Rand's shop, and finds out what he believes is her place in his life - that of Heartmate. From then on, Danith's life is turned upside down.

The world of Celta is carefully built by Owens, and one I found completely believable and exciting.

What makes the book for me, aside from the fact that it is such an original concept and the story is crafted so well, is that Danith is able to hold her own against the strength of Rand T'Ash - one of the most powerful men on their world. Rand knows what it is he wants and pursues it with single minded purpose. He completely believes that Danith is his Heartmate, the other half to his soul, and devotes himself to winning her. There is nothing that he will not do for her. And he has the additional assistance that his Fam is on his side. If you are one for the sisterhood, whilst being a closet soppy romantic (did I mention Rand will do anything at all for Danith? And that while he is so powerful in terms of Flair, yet he feels unworthy of her?) I'm sure you will enjoy this book as much as I do.

Of course, Zanth never was in any doubt of the outcome.

I hope that Owens is well into the next story - it will only take the name on the cover to have me buying it.

I really enjoyed this debut book from Robin D Owens, so much so that I read it in one sitting. Boy, am I glad no-one else was around, I was chuckling to myself so much that they would have sent in the men in white coats.
This book is as humorous as a Sandra Hill novel. I hope this is just the beginning, and that I don't have to wait too long for the next installment.

He survived and has come a long way from the street tough who succeeded in his vengeance quest. He has re-established himself and is now a respected nobleman and artisan. This is a heart warming story of a man who goes through hoops to lay claim to his lady love while struggling to keep his inner self hidden. Danith also needs to trust in the man she loves and overcome her deep routed fears of abandonment and loneliness. Each dangerous adventure they share seems to bring them closer but will this be enough......
