The story of this film suggests that it will depend on nudity and some coarse language to be funny. But I was wrong. That is NOT the case with Heartbreakers. This has got to be the best film of 2001- the jokes just keep on coming. And there aren't many rude scenes.
It has a great script, the plot is entertaining and like I said, the jokes are thrown at you every minute.
The best scenes are:
The Morning After,
The Heimlich Manoeuvre,
A Russian Song,
Gifts For The Ladies,
and
One Cigarette Too Many
The location is pretty good too, and of course so is the weather (lucky americans!).
But the best thing about Heartbreakers is the cast. They are GREAT! Jennifer Love Hewitt, Sigourney Weaver, Ray Liotta, Gene Hackman and Jason Lee are all excellent. Not only do they work well together, but they make their parts believeable. Jennifer Love Hewitt really outdoes her acting ability- I don't think she's ever been this good (I hope she keeps it up!).
The one tiny problem with the DVD is there aren't that many extras. In the US they get outtakes, deleted scenes and commentary by Sigourney Weaver, Jennifer Love Hewitt and director David Mirkin. But the interview with Jennifer Love Hewitt was a more than welcome addition!
So all in all, it doesn't get much better than Heartbreakers. The DVD could have more extras, but the film is so good you don't really notice.
