Product Description

Product Description

He is one of the most charismatic showmen ever to grace a WWE ring. He is HBK: The Heartbreak Kid - the most resilient champion in WWE. And pound for pound, he may well be the toughest. He was the first Grand Slam champion - the only competitor to hold every title WWE had to offer at the time. Weighing in at 225 pounds, he was WWE Champion on three occasions, defeating men who were close to twice his size. From the very beginning of his spectacular career Michaels gained a reputation for pushing his body to extremes. He was willing to go the limit: to do whatever he had to do to put on a stunning show - and eventually his body paid the price. In his early thirties, an age when most Superstars are hitting their prime, Michaels had to bow out of the spotlight, plagued by recurrent injuries which had ended - or so he thought - his career. But then, sensationally, after four years out of the ring, in June 2002 'The Showstopper' returned to a rapturous reception from which he has never looked back. This is the full story of his truly remarkable comeback, and of his glittering twenty-year-plus career.

3.0 out of 5 stars A GOOD READ, 13 Jul 2008
By A. Musgrave (England) - See all my reviews

Heartbreak and Triumph: The Shawn Michaels Story (WWE)
I am not a great HBK fan and that is still the case after reading his book, the start about his family and school years give the book a solid base but once he starts to talk about his wrestling the book becomes very linear and self indulgent. The main problem I had is that he did`nt go into much depth about the wrestling, inside and outside the ring, and you could just feel that he could have told us alot more with a greater detail had it not been published by WWE. His hatred for Bret Hart is also too obvious and reflects in some of his comments and gives the book no real sense of truth. He sums up survivor series 1997 until present day in about 50 pages which just seems lazy . I still enjoyed it but if you are wanting a great book on wrestling see Bret Harts book or Pure Dynamite by Tom Billington they are both less censored the latter especially.

5.0 out of 5 stars Honest, 4 Mar 2007

A must read for wrestling fans, whether or not they like HBK. I felt he was frank and honest. If you want to know about the Montreal screw-job, it is all here. This guy has a super ego and is a devotee of McMahon, but then we all know that already. He is devoted to his sport and to his family, but I was not completely convinced about the religious conviction. However, I thoroughly enjoyed it.
