...and then I got this. Listened to some of the early Sun stuff, and thought "hang on a mo, this is NOT Cheeseburger guzzling stuff", so I bought a cheap box set of Elvis's early CD's, and while I was not exactly hooked, it made a nice change from the feral guitars stuff and psychedelia which floats my boat.
I liked the box. So I bought it (cos I am OCD almost). The fact that each single is recreated immaculately on 10" vinyl was a great attraction. Oh....I got THIS one first, with just Heartbreak Hotel. Each single ? Whoops ! I bought the box set in completion later.
That's cheaper than buying THIS box and filling it with the other 17 singles item for item, but as a taster it's fine... and worth the money.

This was released because of the 50th aniversary of the release of this single. It has an outtake as an extra. The cover of the EP was used since singles didn't have picture covers for Elvis until Hound Dog/Don't Be Cruel.
This is for collector's since most people would buy these songs on a Greatest Hits compilation.

What can you say about this single that hasnt been said before one of the most essential singles in rock history and the single that inspired so many singers.It should be part of everyones cd collection.

The start of a music revolution!

What can you say about a classic that started a revolution in popular music? This single went to number 1 on the US singles chart and stayed their for 7 weeks. The flip side also charted, peaking at 23 on the Billboard Top 100. The single would eventually be certified MULTI-PLATINUM by the RIAA. This CD single includes both the original 45 single A and B sides plus an alternate take of Heartbreak Hotel as a bonus. This is a piece of history and a must for any student of rock.
Incidentally, this single was re-released in 2006 and hit number 1 again on the Billboard Singles Sales chart 50 years after it did it the first time! Talk about staying power!
