Heart of Darkness [Kindle Edition]

2011 has been an awesome year of books, and a fair few have blown me away. This is definitely up there with them. I loved this book so much, I couldn't bear to put it down. If you want proper vampires, then this is definitely your book.
Aleksandr is a hero, or rather a prince, we can really get behind. He's not all polished niceness with unwavering good in him. He's teetering on the edge of no return. Blackness threatens to engulf him, and only one woman can help bring him back. This is not your usual hero. This is a man on a vendetta with fury in his heart. Even so, you feel for Aleksandr. You get behind him and pray he can be saved.
Elise is the guard with attitude who steals his heart and mind. She is a worthy partner and a woman who it's always great to read about. She's ballsy with attitude and yet still holds that naive and sometimes gentle side. She's the type of woman we all would love to be.
When Elise and Aleksandr come together on the pages, they literally smoke. The passion is hot and does not disappoint. There is love too, a love which grows and it's that which always ensures I come back to read Heaton's work.
The other characters in this book were fabulous and added both tension and humour, intrigue and horror. There is death and love, sadness and hope. It's a book that contains everything you could want in a paranormal romance. There is violence and action. It really is a rollercoaster ride of excitement.
I cannot recommend this enough. A top vampire romance that is hard to beat.

This book starts with Alexandr He is a Vampire prince , out on a mission to avenge his sister's death.He kills and kills in a shocking way bringing his inner dark side out.On less he can stop he will be lost to that dark side forever.
Alexsander then meets Elsie guard in her family. one night when Elsie is out doing her job she finds a vampire covered in blood and attacks but she is shocked when she finds out the vampire is her prince. The two are attracted to each other right away but she is not 100% sure of him so she tries to stay away from him but he is all most lost to blood lust and she tries everything to save him.

YAY!!!!!! well done felicity, another great peace of work that keeps you on the edge of your seat.I'm gonna have to say that I find Felicity's work amazing and I cant wait to get them on paper back so I can keep them with all the other books I love. Felicity has the knack to drag you in to the story and make you feel like your apart of the story, she makes you want more and more. The way her books make you feel when your reading them is amazing, so much emotion and feelings in them. I really have not read a book of felicitys I have not liked. Another thing I like about felicitys work is that her vampires are all ways vampires. there is none of this mushy mushy kind of thing, when you read about her vampires you get dark and brooding and oh so melt in ya mouth. Yummy!!!!. So if you are looking for a vampire story, I think you should pick this book up because it will give you everything your looking for.

Elise is a guard in her family's Bloodline, one of the strongest they have. Her father was once their Commander, and he taught her well. While out on patrol on night she comes across a strange vampire covered in blood, but before he can explain himself Elise attacks, and kicks his ass good! So you can imagine her shock when she discoverers that the man is actually her prince, then add the fact that he wants her, and she suddenly becomes one extremely nervous and confused woman. Elise can feel the attraction but she fights it with everything she is worth. Or she tries to at least! And when he starts to slip through her fingers into bloodlust she does everything in her power to save the man she loves.

OMG!!! Once again Felicity has awed me! This was one amazing read. I swear I love the way this woman writes. She knows how to create an emotional whirlwind, suck you in, and keep you there craving more and more until you can't take it any more and end up crying and cussing all over the place getting funny looks from your hubby and the strangers sitting across from you on the bus - True story! LOL. I don't care though, it just proves how great a read it was. As with any of her other books we get a great storyline and plot which is brimming with action, suspense and of course love. There are so many great characters and scenes in here, and I swear you will love everything about it. I know I did. It would be blasphemous to say otherwise!

Anywho, as I was saying... Aleksandr meets Elise and falls for her hard. She obviously likes him too, but is afraid to do anything about it because of his Bloodline - which messes her head up a little. Then to add to her torment she discovers that one of her closet friends also loves her! Talk about being between a rock and a hard place! So, while Elise does everything in her power to avoid Aleksandr and the temptation he represents, he does everything he can to have her by his side constantly. Throw in a few steamy encounters, blood shed, a little male ego bruising, and some emotional turmoil and you have one amazing read!

I loved watching Aleksandr and Elise's relationship form and grow into something amazing! At first I was like WTH man you just met her, whats with the constant craving? Not to mention his sordid, man-whore, rakish past. So, as you can imagine I was in full support of Elise and her tendency to avoid him. But as I read on and got to know him a little better, and seen what Elise represented to him, I was totally all for him getting his lady! And deep down she wanted him anyway, so all's good! It's a shame they had so many obstacles to overcome to get there though - but then again isn't that what makes for a good read.

I have to say, there were so many steamy scenes between these two, and I loved them all!! Aleksandr was constantly stealing wee touches here and there, getting Elise all worked up in the process. Then those touches turned into kisses, and she was lost to him. I loved it when Aleksandr was looking for a little comfort and asked Elise if he could hold her all night. And that was all he wanted! He really loves her!! It was so sweet, and made me melt for him all the more. Ohh... then there was the part when Elise drinks from Aleksandr!*swoon* It was so Hot! But nothing was as steamy as the first time they sleep together! Grr... you really have to grab a copy and read it for yourself - if I start going on now I'll never stop. LOL.

As for the ending - all I can say is WOW!! It was amazing. I love a good fight scene, and as we all know Felicity knows how to write a good bit of action. She brings a dark, dangerous element to her characters that you can't help feel disgusted and lured by all at the same time. And Aleksandr tops the dark and dangerous scales with his sadistic side when he mauls the Hunter's in this book. I loved the blood and gore, and the fact that Aleksandr hated himself for it made me love him, and the killing, all the more. But as I've said repeatedly, you'll have to read the book for yourself to see what I mean. I swear it'll be worth your time. I promise!!
